The June edition of The HTC Launch Pad is out now! If you're an HTC member, check your email inbox for your copy.

This month we're spotlighting the HTC Summer Cross Country Series, which returns to John Hunt Park every Tuesday evening starting this month. We sat down with two of North Alabama's top young runners, Jack Shattuck and Nora Allan, for a Q&A on their training, goals and what they love about the series. Races are free for HTC members, and one-time registration is all you need to participate all summer long.

Also in this issue: HTC president Brian Carter on finding the will to finish when a marathon goes sideways, HTC member Meghan Sottolano on completing her first 100-miler, a look back at one year of the Hays Farm parkrun, and more!

This month we're spotlighting the Cotton Row Run, coming up on Memorial Day, May 25 at Big Spring Park. We sat down with last year's female winner, Sarah Crouch, former professional marathoner and Team USA representative, for a Q&A on her race strategy, training tips, and why she keeps coming back to Cotton Row year after year. Registration closes May 13, so if you haven't signed up yet, now is the time!

Also in this issue: HTC member Charles Farrior on what it's like to be a race pacer, an only-in-Huntsville story about an unofficial Taco Bell 50k birthday run, and much more!

The David McKannan Memorial 5K and Fun Run is this Saturday, April 25 at 7 a.m. at Ditto Landing. The course runs along shaded paths by the river, flat, fast, and a beautiful way to spend a morning.

This race honors David McKannan, an avid runner and beloved member of the Huntsville running community who lost his battle with ALS in 2012. Proceeds benefit the Alabama chapter of the ALS Association, so every step you take means something bigger than a finish time.

There's also a FREE kids 1 Mile Fun Run starting at 8 a.m. Bring the whole family!

Packet pickup is available today (Friday) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Fleet Feet on Carl T. Jones, or at the race site starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday. Registration is still open!

The David McKannan Memorial 5k and Fun Run is on Saturday April 25, 2026. It includes the following events: 5k Run and Kids 1 Mile Fun Run.

Our President, Brian Carter, and Board Member, Mica Anderson, recently sat down with WHNT News 19 to share what Huntsville’s Runner Friendly Community designation from the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) means for our city and the entire North Alabama community.
From safer roads and improved infrastructure to growing partnerships with the city, Huntsville is a place where runners truly belong and we couldn’t be more proud to have helped make that happen.

If you missed the interview, go give it a watch and help us spread the word!
