We're so thankful to welcome Richard Buckley as the newest member of our Board of Influencers.
We asked Richard what "lasting transformation" — that phrase from our mission — means to him personally. Here's what he said:
"We live in a quick-fix society, but true lasting transformation doesn't come overnight. Lasting transformation comes when you have an ally who walks with you, stays with you through thick and thin, challenges you when you need it, and stays close as a source of encouragement along the journey."

We've read that quote a few times. It's stayed with us.

Because that's it, isn't it? Real change in any of our lives — not just the lives of our participants — has rarely come from a quick fix. It's come from people who stayed. People who kept showing up. A mentor. A friend. An ally. Someone who loved us enough to challenge us, and stayed close enough to keep encouraging us.
That's the kind of community we're trying to build at CornerStone. If you've ever thought about being that kind of person for someone, the very first step is our Compassionate Service Training — a short class that gently opens our eyes to assumptions we may not even realize we're carrying, and helps us walk alongside people with open hands. It's open to anyone, and we'd love to have you in the room. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdn0DuVSbggY6uDC5bN-B9NTuB87-OyG3VzswUhCYTHRYLKpQ/viewform?usp=header
Thank you, Richard, and welcome to the board.

We're so thankful for Ashley Clark — a member of our Board of Influencers, and someone who has a beautiful way of describing what makes this place feel like home for so many.
When we asked Ashley what she most wants people to know about CornerStone, she didn't reach for statistics. She told us this: "This isn't a ministry that just tosses money at an issue. They dig into the messy stuff of life in an environment of love and accountability. Many of our participants return for our other programs based on that supportive, safe, Christian environment. They don't want that feeling to end — and I think that says everything." And about the slow, steady work of walking with people, she said:
"CornerStone has always stood out to me for their investment of time in people. Beautiful relationships and trust are built during this process."

That's what we're building here. Not a transaction. A community.
If you've been looking for a place to invest your time in people — and find real friendship along the way — we'd love to have you. Our volunteers walk alongside participants in programs like Jobs for Life, Faith and Finances, and Amplify. And the honest truth is, they often say they're the ones who leave changed.
Thank you, Ashley, for showing us what investing in people looks like.

We're so thankful for Angela Schaefer— partner at Loftin Holt Hall & Hargett LLP and one of the people who helps guide CornerStone from our Board of Directors.
Angela's first step into our work wasn't a board seat. It was a classroom. Back in 2018, before she ever served in our Jobs for Life program, she signed up for our Compassionate Service Training. Years later, she still names it as hugely impactful. In her words, the class "will open your eyes to assumptions you have about poverty and those walking through it that simply are not true or helpful."
That same class is open to anyone in our community — and we'd love to save you a seat.
Compassionate Service Training gently helps us set those incorrect assumptions down and step into relationships with open hands.
You're welcome here whether:
1) You're planning to serve with us this fall in Faith and Finances
2) You lead at a church or nonprofit and want to grow in how your team walks alongside people
3) You're simply curious and want to learn

Thank you, Angela, for leading the way! Signup here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdn0DuVSbggY6uDC5bN-B9NTuB87-OyG3VzswUhCYTHRYLKpQ/viewform

🏆 Big shoutout to TWO incredible first-time sponsors at this year's ****leforCornerstone tournament — Technologies and MartinFed 🎉

These teams showed up, brought the energy, and made this year's event one for the books. A huge thank you to Peter Woods (CEO, Corvid Tec) and David Mathis (CEO, Martin Fed) for backing a cause that means so much to our community. 🙌

We had an absolute blast having you both out there — now the real question is... can you handle coming back next year and defending your honor on the co****le field? 👀🌽

We're calling you out. Same time, same place. Don't be strangers. ❤️

🎯 When your sponsor also shows up to THROW BAGS — that's a good sponsor! 🙌

Shoutout to the amazing team at Architects for being a first-year sponsor of our Co****le Tournament! Mike, Alison, and the whole crew didn't just write a check — they showed up, brought the good energy, and gave it their all on the boards. 🏆

Mike leads his company with faith and integrity, and it shows in everything they do — including how they show up for this community. We are beyond grateful. 🙏

Thank you, Chapman Sisson Architects. First year down and we hope many more to go! 🎉

Bags were thrown. Trophies were claimed. And two giant wolves played co****le!

Yep — our Annual Co****le Tournament delivered, and we are still buzzing! The mascots, Chaos and Rukus, crashed the party and honestly- we're never doing an event without them again!! Between hyping up the crowd, photobombing every shot, and somehow making co****le feel like a championship sport, those two were the MVPs of the day. (Don't tell our actual winners we said that.)

But for real — this day was about SO much more than bags in holes. Every laugh, every cheer, and every dollar raised goes toward supporting individuals navigating their way from situations of crisis to a place of flourishing! That's what The Cornerstone Initiative is all about — building a community where friends walk together in lasting transformation.

To all our sponsors including our presenting sponsors Mission Driven Research and Envision GovCon, volunteers, and everyone who came out to play: you are the reason we get to do this work. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. 💙

🎉 A HUGE thank you to our friends at Savant for sponsoring AND fielding a team in our Co****le Tournament this year! 🌽🎯

It was their very first year entering a team, and a special shoutout to Stephanie Faught for rallying the Savant Wealth Management crew and making it happen!

Savant's support goes far beyond one event. They graciously invited us to join their "Brackets for a Cause" March Madness event — we didn't take home the trophy, but we had an absolute blast and were so honored to be included! They've also generously opened their beautiful office for our annual board retreat year after year.

Managing Partner Brian Hinson and the entire Savant team — you are such a blessing to CornerStone and to the community we serve. Thank you for always showing up with kindness and generosity. We are so grateful to have you in our corner! 💙
