Club members at our Frank J. Williams Club recently welcomed author Mia Pile for a special reading of Layla, Feelings Change.

Through the story, our kids had the opportunity to talk about feelings, participate in the discussion, and explore the idea that the way we feel can change—and that talking about those feelings matters.

We love seeing literacy come to life in ways that help our members learn more about themselves and one another. Thank you, Mia, for spending time with our kids and creating such an engaging afternoon!

Every Club door that opens in North Alabama opens because someone in that community decided our kids were worth it.

Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our kids pay little or nothing to walk through our doors, and that's by design. What makes it possible is you: local businesses, civic groups, churches, volunteers, and neighbors who give.

Just look at the Morgan County Sports Hall of Fame, which has given more than $500,000 to our Clubs and our young people over the years.

The simple truth is that the more a community invests, the more kids we can serve there. More seats. More programs. More mentors. More great futures.

To everyone who has ever given, volunteered, or spread the word: our kids feel it, even if they never see your name. Thank you.

S.M.A.R.T. Moves meets kids where they are — at every age, background, and stage of development. Designed for youth ages 6–15, the program is flexible enough to reflect the needs and cultures of the communities it serves. Every child deserves access to these skills.

It's more than just a sport... These kids are learning how to show up for each other, how to bounce back after a bad game, and how to listen when it's not what they want to hear. That stuff matters in life way more than the scoreboard.

Safety is often taken for granted as adults. We've known our phone numbers and addresses for so long that we forget there was a time we didn't. For a kid, that knowledge isn't automatic, and in an emergency, it can make all the difference.

Thanks to the Limestone County Sheriff's Office, our Athens Club members spent the afternoon learning exactly that...and more. They practiced their phone numbers and addresses, asked a LOT of great questions, and got an up close look at a patrol vehicle and the Sheriff's boat.

At the 3rd Street Club, Kennedi has been volunteering to help take out the trash because, as she puts it, "I love helping keep her Club clean."

That’s service learning in action. Cleaning up. Planting. Helping a neighbor. Caring for a shared space. Small acts that help young people begin asking a much bigger question:

“What can I contribute?”

That’s how character, purpose, and a sense of belonging begin to grow.

September is National Safety month and today is the perfect time to honor all of the first responders in our communities! Thank you to Huntsville Fire Department for teaching our kids at the Cavalry Club about fire safety and service!

Friendships are built brick by brick. It's a learned skill, and every kid needs a place to practice it. In a world that's forgetting how to connect, that's what the Club is for.
