Happy Birthday to us!

🇺🇸 **HAPPY 127TH BIRTHDAY, VFW!** 🇺🇸
**September 29, 1899 – September 29, 2026**

For **127 years**, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has stood for those who served our nation overseas.

The story began on **September 29, 1899**, when veterans of the Spanish-American War gathered in Columbus, Ohio. Many had returned home wounded or sick with little government assistance and few of the veterans' benefits we know today.

They knew something had to change.

That small gathering helped begin a movement of veterans advocating for veterans—a movement that eventually became the **Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States**.

Through the generations, VFW members have represented veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan and conflicts and operations around the world.

Along the way, the VFW became a powerful voice for America's veterans, helping champion major advances including the **GI Bill**, veterans' health care, disability compensation, education benefits and recognition of illnesses connected to military service.

But the VFW story isn't only written in Washington.

It's written in communities across America every day.

It's a veteran helping another veteran.
It's honoring our fallen.
It's remembering our POWs and MIAs.
It's supporting military families.
It's teaching the next generation about patriotism.
It's continuing to serve long after the uniform comes off.

Here in Alabama, we are proud to carry that legacy forward.

From **1899 to 2026**, one promise remains:

🇺🇸 **We will never stop fighting for those who fought for us.**

⭐ 127 Years of Service
⭐ 127 Years of Advocacy
⭐ 127 Years of Comradeship

**Happy 127th Birthday, VFW!**

**NO ONE DOES MORE FOR VETERANS.**
