Walker County Area Go Texan Committee

Walker County Area Go Texan Committee Walker County Area Go Texan Committee is a non-profit organization benefiting the youth of Walker County in support of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

The Walker County Area Go Texan, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, can trace its roots back to 1973, when Buck Thomason served as the first Ambassador and started the local committee. The Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo (HSLR) is the umbrella organization that presides over each Area Go Texan committee across the state. The Walker County Area Go Texan committee (WCAGT) is committed to serving

the youth of Walker County through annual events and fundraisers. Money raised by the WCAGT goes toward providing scholarships for local students living in the Walker County area. Students must apply and meet certain criteria to be considered for scholarships. Scholarships may be used at any four-year public or private university or technical school. Students must commit to completing volunteer hours. It is not a requirement to be involved in FFA, 4-H, or the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for the WCAGT scholarship. For more information on the scholarship application process, please contact a WCAGT committee member. The WCAGT committee is best known for its annual Crawfish Boil, held in May each year at the Walker County Fairgrounds in Huntsville, TX. Started in 1995 by Lifetime Member, Jerry Ellisor, the crawfish boil has been one of the most successful events to support the youth of Walker County. Individual tickets and VIP table sponsorships to this ALL YOU CAN EAT feast are sold through pre-sale only. So, be sure to contact a committee member ahead of time to purchase tickets or become a sponsor. If you are interested in volunteering with the committee to better serve the youth of Walker County please contact us!

What an incredible night at the 32nd Annual Walker County Area Go Texan Crawfish Boil Scholarship Fundraiser!

From the bottom of our hearts, the Walker County Area Go Texan Committee would like to THANK everyone who came out, bought tickets, donated, volunteered, and supported our event.

Our Walker County Area Go Texan Crawfish Boil is right around the corner, and we still have a few reserved tables available for anyone wanting to enjoy a great night while supporting local students and agriculture in our community 🦞🎓

A table for 8 is $400, making it a fun way to gather friends, family, coworkers, or clients for an evening that directly helps fund scholarships right here in Walker County.

Last year alone, our committee committed $40,000 in local scholarships, in addition to our Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship efforts.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, this is the perfect excuse for a fun night out that gives back in a meaningful way.

Message us for details on securing your table.

There’s nothing better than watching our community come together to support the future of Walker County 💙🤠

As the Walker County Area Go Texan Committee, our mission is to promote Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, agriculture, and the next generation of leaders through scholarship opportunities right here at home.

Because of the incredible support from our community, we were able to commit $40,000 in local scholarships last year, along with one $20,000 HLSR scholarship—and this year, we’ve pledged up to $50,000 in local scholarships. 🙌

Our annual Crawfish Boil is coming up on the first Saturday in May, and we are looking for student volunteers, adult volunteers, and community members who want to serve.

This is a great opportunity for middle school and high school students to begin earning volunteer hours with our committee, which is one of the requirements for scholarship eligibility, while also giving back to agriculture and our local youth programs.

Whether you can help cook, serve, sell tickets, set up, clean up, or simply lend a hand wherever needed, we would love to have you join us.

It takes a village to build scholarships, support students, and keep agriculture thriving in Walker County. Comment below or send us a message if you’d like to help at the Crawfish Boil! 🦞🎓
