STUDENT VOICES
The next generation steps up
The inaugural Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council wrapped up a year of learning, leadership and service. Students from across Huntsville explored city operations, met with local leaders, volunteered in the community and developed projects addressing issues important to young people. Along the way, they gained a deeper understanding of local government and the role they can play in shaping Huntsville’s future. Their ideas, energy and commitment helped establish a strong foundation for future Youth Advisory Council members.

The Huntsville-Madison County Emergency Management Agency will conduct a full-scale public safety training exercise, simulating a train derailment, TODAY (June 17) at 10 a.m.

Residents and drivers may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and response activity near Lee High School between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This is only a TRAINING exercise! There's no emergency, no danger to the public and no action is required.

This coordinated drill helps local public safety agencies train together and strengthen emergency response readiness. We appreciate the community's patience and understanding.
