💜 Today, our Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS), Amberlyn Haden, had the honor of serving on a panel alongside the City of Huntsville’s Homeless Services Team, representing Partnership for a Drug-Free Community and sharing the work being done to support our unsheltered community members.

Amberlyn’s passion for recovery, advocacy, and meeting people where they are continues to make a meaningful impact throughout our community. Through outreach, peer support, resource navigation, and recovery advocacy, she helps individuals take their next steps toward hope, healing, and stability.

We are incredibly proud of Amberlyn for representing our agency and for the dedication she brings to this work every day. Opportunities like these highlight the importance of collaboration and the power of lived experience in helping individuals find recovery and reclaim their lives.

At Partnership for a Drug-Free Community, we believe that recovery is possible, support matters, and every person deserves hope.

We do recover! 💜

Our Youth Program Director Sarah Perry and Executive Assistant Staci Robison Cochran were able to attend the Annual North Alabama Health & Wellness Fair and what an honor it is to have been invited!

Such wonderful hosts, an amazing atmosphere, and a great turnout from the community. Kenny Anderson welcomed us, and the Partnership for a Drug-Free Community team was proud to be part of such a meaningful event focused on health, wellness, and community connection.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

💬 Language matters.
The words we choose can make a powerful difference. Using supportive, respectful language helps people feel seen, heard, and valued—especially when they’re navigating mental health challenges.

🤝 Supportive language in action:
• “I’m here for you.”
• “You don’t have to go through this alone.”
• “That sounds really hard—do you want to talk about it?”
• “How can I support you right now?”
• “It’s okay to ask for help.”

✨ Even small shifts in how we speak can create a safe space for connection, understanding, and healing.

250 miles. 🚗
3 lives forever changed.

Yesterday, we traveled nearly 250 miles to transport 3 women to treatment for substance use disorder.

Every mile represented hope, courage, and the chance for a new beginning. Recovery is not always easy, and access to treatment can be a barrier for so many — but yesterday, distance did not stand in the way of healing.

Thank you to everyone who supports our mission and helps make moments like this possible. Because of you, lives are being changed one mile, one person, and one recovery journey at a time. ❤️

💚May is Mental Health Awareness Month:
- Early Support Matters: Recognizing Signs in Children and Youth

Parents and caregivers are often the first to notice changes.

🚩Changes in mood, sleep, appetite, thinking, or behavior may signal the need for support.

⚠️Most serious mental illnesses begin in young adulthood.

⚠️Exposure to trauma can affect long-term mental health.

✅Paying attention to patterns, having open conversations, and connecting children and teens to support early can make a meaningful difference.

✅Timely assessment and access to services improve outcomes.

✅Community awareness strengthens early identification and support.

💚Young people thrive when support comes early. Asking for help on behalf of a child, teen, or young adult is an act of protection and advocacy.

We’re excited to announce a Hygiene Drive to support our local unhoused community and individuals entering substance use treatment programs.

Everyday essentials can make a huge difference in someone’s dignity, confidence, and healing journey. We’re collecting hygiene items to help meet those needs and show care for our neighbors in need.
