Friends of Rescue Friends of Rescue (FOR) is an all-volunteer, foster-based nonprofit in Huntsville, AL, saving dogs and cats in need.

We provide vet care, safe foster homes, and help animals find forever families while promoting spay/neuter and responsible pet ownership. Last night, this sweet, social mama gave birth to NINE puppies in the shelter. 💔🐶

She should be curled up somewhere warm and quiet with her babies—not raising them in a shelter kennel.

The good news? Mama is incredibly sweet and social. ❤️ She deserves a safe, loving foster home where she can recover from giving birth and care for her tiny babies without the stress and noise of a shelter.

We need a foster home ASAP for Mama and all 9 puppies. 🍼🐾

Martin is all about affection—he loves being close to his people and will happily soak up every bit of attention you give him. Whether it’s curling up in your lap, snuggling beside you, or leaning in for pets, Martin is happiest when he’s with you.

He has a gentle, loving personality and brings a calm, comforting presence wherever he goes. While he enjoys playtime like any kitten, his favorite moments are the quiet ones spent cuddling and bonding with his humans.

Meet Bella Grey 🩶

Hi there! I’m Bella Grey, a 5-month-old retriever pup ready to fill your life with love, laughter, and LOTS of puppy energy! 🐕✨

I’m a social butterfly who gets along with cats, dogs, and kids, making me a great fit for an active family. Older kiddos are best for me right now though—I’m in my “piranha puppy” phase and sometimes my playful nibbles are a little stronger than I mean them to be! 😅

💔 These are the faces we had to say NO to this week.

Every single day, Friends of Rescue receives requests to help animals who are homeless, abandoned, injured, or simply out of options.

And every single day, we have to say no to some of them.

Not because they aren’t worth saving.
Not because we don’t care.
Not because they don’t need us.

Because we don't have enough foster homes.

Behind every “we’re full” is a face like these.

A dog waiting in a shelter.
A kitten growing up without a home.
A scared cat who has nowhere safe to go.
A family pet whose life has suddenly fallen apart.

We see them. We hear their stories. We want desperately to say YES.

But we can't rescue an animal without somewhere safe for them to go.

💙 This is where YOU can make an incredible difference.

Fostering means opening your home temporarily to an animal in need and giving them something they desperately need: time, safety, love, and a chance.

Friends of Rescue provides the support you need. We help with veterinary care, medications, supplies, adoption promotion, and finding that animal a loving forever home. You provide the safe place, the patience, and the love.

And the reward?

Watching a frightened animal learn to trust.
Watching a skinny dog become healthy and happy.
Watching a kitten who once had no future get adopted into a family who will love them forever.
Knowing that because you opened your door, an animal got a second chance.

And when that animal finds their forever home, you can help another one.

One foster home can mean the difference between “I'm sorry, we can't help” and “YES. We can save you.”

Hi! I'm Delilah! I am a happy, playful, young aussie girl who would LOVE to find my FURever home to spoil me like the princess I am. I am a dominant female and am fine with male dogs and submissive females so please don't expect me to live with a bossy girl :) I am the epitome of velcro Aussie and I promise you will never do anything alone, ever. I will also help you with any and every chore you try to do around the house and make sure I give it my inspection too. I am totally house trained but do like to chew on my soft toys and an occasional blanket or pillow but that is rare.

I am a little shy and nervous at first so need a patient family to let me settle at my own speed. Older children will be best as the young ones may move too quickly or not know how to respect my space as I adjust.

I am fostered in the Huntsville, AL area and anyone interested in meeting me needs to be able to come here in person with all furry family members and humans (big and small). I am a solid 55 lbs and probably could lose a pound or two but that's not much fun. I can still run, play and jump just fine :)

🧡 Scrappy
The biggest of the bunch and the quiet thinker! Scrappy took his time letting his personality shine, but now he’s all in. He’s observant, intelligent, and when he plays—he goes all out! His favorite pastime? Leaping through the air to catch wand toys like a pro. With his slender, elegant look, he’s truly a standout.

🖤 Sassy
This gorgeous black beauty lives up to her name in the best way. Once shy, Sassy is now a confident, playful sweetheart who can keep up with her brothers. Whether she’s zooming through a tunnel or scaling a cat tree at top speed, she brings both energy and affection.

🖤 Indy
Named after Indiana Jones, Indy is the perfect mix of explorer and snuggle buddy. He loves chasing scrunchy balls and shoelaces, but is just as happy curled up beside his person. In the right light, you’ll catch his subtle tabby markings shining through his sleek black coat.

🖤 Georgie
This “super kitten” is equal parts cuddle bug and fearless adventurer. Georgie is always first to climb, wrestle, and investigate anything new. He’s especially obsessed with pouncing on anything moving under a blanket! Though mostly black, he’s starting to show mysterious grey splashes—his final look is still a surprise!

June is a stunning Anatolian Shepherd mix with a heart just as big as her beautiful presence. Estimated to be around 2–3 years old, this sweet girl has already shown just how resilient and loving she is.

June was found wandering onto a property with seven other dogs—but her story took a lucky turn when that property belonged to a Friends of Rescue foster. Now safe and cared for, June is ready to find the forever home she truly deserves.
