Animal care keepers have to be ready for whatever the day brings!

At BEARS Etc., our keepers come prepared with the essentials—boots, keys, a radio, and a multi-tool. From daily animal care to tackling unexpected tasks, having the right gear helps us stay prepared throughout the day.

And of course, the animals are always extra excited to see us coming when treats are involved!

Our first Fall work day is coming up on September 12! We welcome returners and brand new volunteers to put on some outdoor work clothes and help us with Operation Clean Up this Fall.

Jenny’s story reminds us why rescue matters!

A realtor found her alone in an empty house in 2022, stressed and plucking her feathers. Those feathers won’t grow back, but her peace absolutely did.

Now she thrives with Cowboy, surrounded by safety, enrichment, and love at BEARS Etc.

Happy September from our Animal of the Month, Jenny. Jenny is one of our cockatiels and she came to BEARS Etc. in 2022 after being abandoned in a home after a move.

Cockatiels live an average of 15 to 20 years and can be sensitive to artificial scents around a home. We make sure that Jenny has all the proper care as she lives peacefully alongside her roomate, Cowboy!

Did you guess, Onyx, our silver phase fox? Onyx is one of the Foxtastic Four that was rescued from a Fur and Urine Farm in Ohio over a year ago. She can be a little shy at first, but wait until you see her smile 🦊
