America gets “football fever” as college and professional teams hit the gridiron each week. Thanksgiving marks a time each November when football really takes hold. Days off from work allow people time to enjoy friends, family, food, and football. Many football fans capitalize on their time off from work by getting together and playing in informal pick-up football games with friends. Over time the
se games have become known as “Turkey Bowls,” a salute to the Thanksgiving holiday food of choice. Walter Jones’ Turkey Bowl takes this annual tradition to the next level by organizing the event into a competitive format for the great cause of benefiting charity. The inaugural flag football tournament will be held at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville, AL on November 19th and 20th, 2011. The tournament will be comprised of 16 teams, with 10 players per team. Each team is guaranteed to play in a minimum of two games (see game rules for additional details). Further, each team will have a celebrity or a local / state known personality acting as “coach.” All proceeds raised from sponsor will go to benefit HEALS, Inc.
