At 643pm, HFD and Smyrna Fire Department were toned to assist Witter Aurora with a fire inside the main shed of the Charcoal Plant on 74. On scene, crews were met with a large covered area of dried product on fire, creating large amounts of smoke and dangerous potential conditions that crews needed to mitigate from outside the flashover area. HFD managed the fire with the use of our Ram master stream device which allowed the plant operators to remove the smoldering product to prevent further spread.
DEM Wheeler brought his thermal drone to assist in assessing for heat signatures from a safe distance.
No injuries to employees or responders noted.

Please help us congratulate Firefighter Freeman on her completion and graduation from the Benton County Fire Academy last night.
Samantha has put in countless hours of classroom, online, and hands-on training to reach this goal over the last few months and we are proud of her efforts!

Last night, at 621pm, HFD was toned to assist Bohannan Mountain Fire Dept with a large brush fire after a rubbish fire extended out from the barrel which it originated. Crews worked to initially protect the structure and additional crews worked to establish a fire line and contain the fire while awaiting Arkansas Forestry to arrive from Washington County. Smyrna Fire Department provided additional water and manpower to the operation.

Friendly reminder that Madison County continues to be under a burn ban. Further reminder that Arkansas Air Pollution Control Code, 8 CAR § 40-502 states “No person shall cause or permit the open burning of refuse, garbage, trade waste, or other waste material…”

This afternoon, at 244pm, HFD was toned to a semi vs SUV on Highway 412, in front of Millsap Tire. On scene, crews were met with a vehicle on its side with the restrained passenger still contained inside. Madison County EMS assessed the need for rapid removal so HFD members provided fast, temporary stabilization and assisted with packaging and removal.
Thank you EMS, EMS Rescue, Madison County Sheriffs Office, Arkansas State Police, and Survival Flight once again for working together for the best patient outcomes.
It was a scorcher today on the pavement and your responders withstood some serious heat. Please take care of yourselves in this weather.

On scene, one minor had been ejected from the vehicle and was quickly attended to by Madison County EMS and later evacuated by Survival Flight air ambulance out of Russellville. Two other minors were considered walking wounded but treated and transported by Madison County EMS.

Thank you Madison County EMS, Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police, Forum/Alabam Fire Department, and EMS Rescue for the cooperative effort required for patient care and traffic control.
