is to change the cultural mindset toward, and the treatment of, those with mental illness by pr
oviding education, and financial resources to first responders who interact with them and destigmatizing mental illness among the public through public information campaigns. Seek and provide funding for referral services, counseling and programs that promote overall health and wellness for first responders dealing with job-related trauma resulting from crisis situations. Advocate for more funding to increase the number of mental health providers available to assist responders on 911 calls where mental health issues are involved.
3. Identifying and publicizing innovative programs elsewhere that can serve as potential models for local agencies and organizations in the treatment of those with mental illness, especially in crisis situations.
4. Sponsoring and/or participating in local events to educate people about mental illness and the services available for individuals or families dealing with mental illness.
5. Working with print and electronic media to increase awareness about mental health by publicizing events, organizations, and services devoted to aiding those with mental illness.
