Looks like progress is starting to be made at the depot! I'm certain the new group of volunteers will do wonderful things once they have the funds to do so!

Goodmorning everybody! I started this page a little before Covid occured with practically took all the wind out of my sails, so the past few years I have sat back and independently cleaned up trash/paraphernalia from the grounds to make it safe for visitors/children to use and have just waited to see what happens...which nothing has and the grounds are getting worse each and every day...

See this has renewed my vigor and interest into seeing this beauty and its grounds returned back to it's former glory...But I need your help!! I need all of Huntsvilles help!

Please share this post, share this group, and if able reach out to me in regards to planning volunteer days to clean things up, raising funds for improvements, etc...this is a true gem of Huntsville and is the first thing you see coming into downtown. It needs to serve a purpose once again and with ypur help we can make it happen!!!

Went by the depot this morning and noticed that a window pane is out on the 3rd floor..this is the most important floor imo historically because of the confederate grafitti on the walls...hopefully it will be addressed soon!

Went to exercise at the depot and clean up a little bit and this is what I found...

Two people passed out under the pavillion..cops were called after a few hours

Stumbled upon a homeless man defacating

4 syringes

Numerous beer bottles and used condoms

People bring their children here and this place should be a gem not a refuge for drug addicts and homeless people!!! This needs to change and it needs to change quick

This passenger loading/unloading section was built in the early 1900's and I fear sadly its now too far gone.

This is one of the any things being neglected at the Huntsville Depot! People need to be held accountable! This depot is the oldest in Alabama and one of the oldest in the south...it is truly a gem and shouldn't be neglected the way it is!

Please share this and other posts I haveade over the years. This needs to change ASAP!!!

Now that Covid is out of the way I am going to pick up where I left off on getting funds raised for repairs and finding volunteers for work!

Thanks everyone for the support..this is just the beginning and we have a very long way to go but it makes me feel good that we atleast are gaining traction within the community...if you are new welcome to the group! Please view photos from the previous posts of main pertaining to the condition of various areas of the Depot so you can see what all needs done..and if you are able please reach out to me regarding availability to volunteer on upcoming projects and if you feel led to please check out or gofundme!

100% and I mean 100% will go directly towards improving the grounds surrounding the Depot and if somehow enough funds come in we will start making progress on the early 1900's art nouveau passenger walkway which is on the verge of collapsing...

I pray daily God will provide a way to start making things happen at the depot and I know that he will!

If able, as a Huntsville citizen please do your part in contributing to restore and preserve this one of a kind gem we are lucky to have in our city!!

The covered walkway is much worse than when I last visited a few months back...there soo much that I wish I could do but I'm only one person.

Hello everyone!

I hope you all have made it safely through the coronavirus epidemic! Thankfully it is coming to a close and with that being said I am going to start ramping up efforts to start restoring the Depot and the surrounding grounds!

I am in serious need of volunteers and am going to be reaching out to local media, Facebook groups..anything and everything I can think of to get these efforts as much exposure as possible.

I have also created a gofundme in hopes to raise funds to help with structural repairs, landscaping etc... whatever we can do to help! If you are able to donate some of your free time one weekend in the next month or so please send me a message.

If you would like to donate to our efforts please click the link below. 100% of proceeds will go directly towards restoration efforts. When I say 100% I mean it!

I will be posting every couple days from here on out and will be breathing life once again into this worthy cause. I am begging for your help..so if there is anyway you can contribute whether it be with your time or money please help us out!

Goodmorning everyone,

I went to the Depot earlier this morning and I did not like what I see,

The covered passenger area which is well over 100 years old is literally standing on its last leg. The elements have taken their toll on it and water has rotted it out completely in well over 20 places. Pretty soon if something is not done it will be in a state of disrepair and will have to be torn down.

There is alot of work that needs to be done to protect the depot and surrounding buildings...and it all needs to be done very soon to prevent further deterioration.

All I ask for is you to share this post and page to get the word out to the local community. The Depot is over 160 years old and an iconic piece of Huntsville. Earlyworks is doing everything they can but with little funding it's time is citizens step in.

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well during these difficult times...2020 sure has been a rough ride for alot of people including myself!!

Due to personal problems at the end of last year I kinda gave up on this page and what I wanted to accomplish for the Depot but my love for it still remains and I would love to get this page back up and going, and plan some volunteer projects for this fall! (Hopefully the pandemic will be under control by then)

If you would like to help volunteer or help organize projects please feel free to reach out to me! I hope to revitalize this page and start getting people interested in the Depot once again and I'm going to need all the help that I can get!!
