We are excited to invite our mentees and parents to our upcoming Because I Am A Girl (BIAAG) Mentoring Session:

Exploring the Biology, Chemistry, and Beauty of Your Hair

We are honored to welcome Ms. Angie Upton, Founder & CEO of The Loc Shop, entrepreneur, educator, and nationally recognized natural hair advocate, as our featured presenter.

This engaging STEM-focused workshop will help our girls discover the science behind their hair while learning to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of their natural crowns.

Participants Will:
🔬 Learn the biology and chemistry of hair structure, moisture, protein, and product selection
🧬 Discover their individual hair type, texture, and curl pattern
🔍 Use a scalp scanner to view hair follicles and scalp health
🧴 Create a customized shampoo based on their hair and scalp needs
🌺 Personalize fragrance options for their products
💡 Explore how science, health, and self-care work together to support healthy hair
Why This Matters

This session also introduces our girls to the importance of the CROWN Act (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair)—legislation that protects individuals from discrimination based on hair texture and protective hairstyles such as braids, locs, twists, and afros.

Our girls will learn that their natural hair is not only beautiful, but it is also a part of their identity, culture, and heritage. Through education and empowerment, we want every young lady to understand that she should never feel pressured to change who she is in order to be accepted.

Parents, we encourage you to register your daughter as soon as possible and invite other young ladies in grades 4th–12th to join us for this exciting and empowering experience.

✨ The Rosé Society’s Charity Grant ✨

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Greater Huntsville Area Chapter (NCBW-GHAC) was honored to be recognized as one of the recipients of the 2026 Rosé Society Charity Grant.

We are incredibly grateful to receive this grant in the amount of $39,500; which will allow us to expand the reach and impact of our “In the Pink” Feminine Hygiene Drive throughout schools across the North Alabama region. This investment will help us continue addressing period poverty, ensuring that young girls have access to essential hygiene products and the confidence to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

This achievement would not be possible without the generosity of the Rosé Society, its dedicated partners, sponsors, donors, and supporters.

On behalf of NCBW-GHAC, thank you for your trust, partnership, and investment in our vision. Together, we are making a lasting difference in the lives of women and girls across North Alabama.

✨ 2026 Leadership Conference✨

Day 1 of the 2026 Leadership Conference is officially in the books, and what an impactful day it has been!

Under the theme, “Return to Work: Leadership Refocused for Impact, Advocacy, and the Four Pillars,” our chapter joined our sisters from across the country to learn, collaborate, and strengthen our commitment to the mission of NCBW.

Through engaging workshops, leadership development sessions, and meaningful discussions, we were challenged to think strategically about how we can increase our impact in the areas of Education, Health, Economic Empowerment, and Public Policy. We were reminded that effective leadership requires intentional action, bold advocacy, and a steadfast commitment to serving Black women and girls.

As members of the Greater Huntsville Area Chapter, we are excited to bring back fresh ideas, innovative strategies, and renewed energy to continue advancing our work in the communities we serve.

The impact of Day 1 is already evident—leaders are being equipped, voices are being strengthened, and chapters are being empowered to create meaningful change.

We are inspired, energized, and looking forward to all that Day 2 has in store!

The sisters of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Greater Huntsville Area Chapter have officially arrived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the 2026 Leadership Conference!

This week we will join our NC100BW sisters from across the nation as we learn, lead, collaborate, and strengthen our commitment to advocacy and service. This conference is an opportunity to sharpen our leadership skills, build meaningful connections, and bring back valuable knowledge that will continue to empower the communities we serve.

As we represent the Greater Huntsville Area Chapter, we are proud to stand alongside women who are committed to advancing equity, opportunity, and excellence for Black women and girls.

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Greater Huntsville Area Chapter was proud to partner with and support the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) Greater Huntsville Section at the Shades of Purple 5K!

This meaningful event brought together community members, organizations, and advocates to promote health, wellness, and awareness while supporting an important cause. We are especially honored that a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Alabama Chapter of the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention, helping to support education, advocacy, research, and resources for individuals and families impacted by su***de.

Thank you to NCNW for leading this impactful initiative and to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported the event. Together, we continue to strengthen our communities through service, partnership, and purpose.

Memorial Day is more than a holiday; it is a time of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for the heroes who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we cherish.
