Mochilon 2026 was a success!
Huntsville Helping Hands in partnership with United Women of Color Huntsville (UWOC) provided over 350 backpacks and supplies to local immigrant children, and had a fun day of activities! Special thanks to Amia Robinson, Community Engagement Manager at UWOC for her leadership and the countless hours she worked to coordinate so much of the event, and to Angela D Curry, Founder and Executive Director of UWOC for making this partnership happen, including great advice for planning and volunteering at the event! This event couldn't have happened without UWOC! Additionally, thanks so much to Mary Boyzo for helping secure support for the event!
AND OUR VOLUNTEERS! The heart of the effort are the more than 75 volunteers who helped pack backpacks, setup the event, monitor and help at all of the activities, and clean up! None of this happens without them - THANK YOU!
We had many individuals who donated funds for the event and a number of amazing sponsors who donated their time, money, or offered steep discounts on their services in order to make this event happen! We are so thankful for the individuals, organizations, and businesses for their partnership that made this event a success!

¡Mochilón 2026 fue un éxito!
Huntsville Helping Hands, en colaboración con United Women of Color (UWOC), entregó más de 350 mochilas y útiles escolares a niños inmigrantes de la localidad, ¡y disfrutamos de un día lleno de actividades divertidas!
Un agradecimiento especial a Amia Robinson, Gerente de Participación Comunitaria de UWOC, por su liderazgo y las innumerables horas que dedicó a coordinar gran parte del evento; y a Angela Curry, fundadora y directora ejecutiva de UWOC, por hacer posible esta colaboración y brindar valiosos consejos para la planificación y el voluntariado durante el evento. ¡Este evento no habría sido posible sin UWOC! Además, ¡muchas gracias a Mary Boyzo por ayudar a conseguir apoyo para el evento!
