Today we’re highlighting Will Jones of Yellowhammer Roofing, Inc.!

"I joined the HMCBA because I saw it as a great opportunity to become more involved in our local community while building meaningful relationships with others in the homebuilding industry. As a member, I’ve really enjoyed the connections I’ve made, the opportunity to support other local businesses, and being part of an organization that brings people together. It’s been a great way to stay involved, grow professionally, and represent Yellowhammer Roofing within the community we serve."

When he's not working.... "Will is a proud dad of four boys, so it’s safe to say sports are a big part of life outside of work! He loves watching his boys play, coaching their teams, and spending as much time with them as he can. Whether he’s on the sidelines coaching or in the stands cheering them on, family and sports are two of his favorite ways to spend his time."

As part of Associate Appreciation Month, we’re highlighting our amazing Associate Members.

Here’s what Colin Dorman of Cabinet IQ of Huntsville had to say about his HMCBA membership:

"I joined HMCBA to rub elbows with the best builders in town—and maybe pick up a few trade secrets along the way! Being a member means I get to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and keep raising the bar for quality and service in our local community."

A fun fact about Colin: "My favorite store has to be Lego, due to my Lego 'problem'... if you know, you know."

It’s Associate Appreciation Month!

All September long, we’ll be spotlighting some of our incredible Associate Members.

Today, we’re featuring Karen Mayhue with May Hues Design LLC

Why HMCBA? "I joined HMCBA because I want to network within the building industry. It is an exciting time to be living in Northern Alabama and taking part in the growth and development that is taking place here. Not only does our area have a rich history of innovation and technology but is ready to leap forward in the building industry as well. I am thrilled that my business gets to be part of helping to design spaces with this same mindset: creating innovative environments that reflect the natural beauty of Alabama and help people thrive."

Fun Fact: "My most recent milestone occurred on May 18, 2026, when I completed the Certified Master Pool Builder and Design Professional Genesis curriculum offered through the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance. I have gained valuable information from the courses that I completed for this certification: standards, codes, and ordinances of pool and spa construction, drawing and design, history of architecture and pools, pool and spa hydraulics, and advanced construction techniques. There are only 75 Certified Master Pool Builder and Design Professionals worldwide. And now I am one of only 3 in the state of Alabama."

Congratulations to the North Alabama Homebuilding Academy on being named a founding member of the Building Futures Skilled Trades Coalition, launched in partnership with the Lowe's Foundation.

This national coalition brings together educators, businesses, industry leaders and workforce organizations to expand opportunities in the skilled trades and strengthen the talent pipeline from recruitment to career advancement.

With a goal of helping train and develop more than 1 million people for skilled trades careers by 2035, this is an exciting initiative for the future of the skilled trades workforce.

As many of you know, longtime HMCBA member and past president, Steve Steele, is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

A Meal Train has been set up to support Steve and Pat with meals as they focus on treatment and recovery. If you’d like to help, you can sign up to provide a meal or donate a DoorDash gift card.

Please keep Steve, Pat, and their family in your thoughts and prayers.

In order to alleviate some of the daily burdens of meal planning and prep, we are starting a MealTrain for Steve as he is going through Cancer treatments. Steve's cancer has spread into his bones and his pain is significantly increasing by the day. By providing a meal, this will allow Steve to focus...
