Goodbye, Huntsville Summit!

Residents deserved better than this aging functionally obsolete building. This spring, we relocated residents to interim housing to make way for Meridian Commons, a modern, community apartment home worthy of its residents.

A final look at Huntsville Summit. Built in the 1970s, this 8-story brick building was home to hundreds of seniors and residents with disabilities for almost 5 decades.

Over time, wear and tear left the building functionally obsolete. Residents deserved better than what it could offer.

When we acquired the building in 2025, we knew the right path was to start from scratch. In the spring, we relocated residents to interim housing, making way for the next phase: Meridian Commons, a modern, community-focused home worthy of its residents.

As demolition begins, we honor the memories made here
and the friendships formed. We also thank our partners for leading this next step.

Goodbye, Huntsville Summit.

Neighborhood Concepts is one of many nonprofits able to amplify our reach through CRA-motivated bank investment. Without bank support, affordable housing and small business lending in our communities will suffer.

For practitioners, lenders, advocates and funders who believe in community reinvestment, here is what the proposed 2026 CRA rule means on the ground:

🛑 28 states would lose evaluations for at least one-third of their LMI-area bank branches.

🛑 22 states are at risk of losing oversight for at least one-third of branches in majority-people-of-color tracts

🛑 At least $2 billion in annual community development loans and investments is at risk of disappearing.

CRA was designed to correct discrimination called redlining that left entire neighborhoods without access to credit. The proposed rule does not fix those failures. It reduces the pressure on banks to address them.
