The HEALS Mission
It is our mission to keep children healthy and optimize their opportunities for success in school and society. By providing accessible school-based health care for eligible economically disadvantaged children, we are a real solution, right now to the health care crisis by providing them with a medical home. While providing much needed health care and dental care, HEALS also works

to get and keep children on health insurance. HEALS strives to become a positive change agent in the lives of the under-privileged children of Huntsville and Madison County, Alabama.

New Location, Same HEALS Mission!

Big changes are happening behind the scenes at HEALS! Our Administrative Office is officially on the move from 515 Sparkman Drive to 635 Discovery Drive.

Our team is hard at work unpacking boxes, setting up workstations, and creating a new space where we can continue doing what we do best: supporting our clinics, our staff, and the children and families we serve.

We may be a little quieter than usual this week as we get settled, but our mission isn't moving anywhere.

New address, new space, same heart for our community.❤️

It was a pleasure to join physicians and community leaders from across Madison County at last night’s On Call reception, celebrating the newest physicians joining our area.

An added bonus was seeing four of our Stars Dancing for HEALS 2026 competitors in the room, so of course we had to get a picture!

Thank you to the Madison County Medical Society and Madison County Medical Alliance for giving our newest physicians such a warm welcome and reminding the rest of us how fortunate we are to be part of such an engaged and generous community.

Pouring Into the People Who Pour So Much Into Others

Last Friday, the HEALS team came together for our annual Staff Retreat, a time to step away from the day-to-day, regroup, celebrate one another, and have meaningful conversations about where we've been and where we're headed. Thank you to our friends and host, WellStone .

We were incredibly fortunate to hear from Dr. Melissa Shields, Assistant State Superintendent, who delivered a powerful and emotional presentation, “Understanding Adversity, Trauma & the Power of Resilience.” Her message was especially meaningful for a team that works every day with children and families facing barriers and challenges that often extend far beyond health care.

After a fabulous lunch from Taco Mama , we traded serious conversations for some serious moves with a salsa and bachata lesson from Baila Huntsville! Nothing reenergizes a team quite like good food, great music, a little dancing, and a LOT of laughter.

These gatherings matter. Taking time to learn together, laugh together, reconnect, and simply enjoy one another makes us stronger as a team and better equipped to serve our community.

We love our people, and we will continue to pour into the people who pour so much of themselves into the HEALS mission every single day. 💚
