We’re not just raising funds to support research. We’re also raising funds to support families.

Financial support for families facing DIPG/DMG is one of the most important parts of our mission.

When a child is diagnosed, parents often have to step away from work — all while carrying the emotional, mental and physical weight of caring for their child.

We know how heavy that can be. We’ve lived it.

If you’re able to donate to support these families, we’d be honored and grateful.

If your family is in need — or you know of such a family — please visit our website to learn more.

Sometimes, it starts with something small.

A stumble that doesn’t make sense.
A complaint about double vision.
A headache that doesn’t go away.

For many families, the early signs of a brain tumor, including DIPG/DMG, can look like:

• Trouble with balance or walking
• Changes in vision or eye movement
• Frequent headaches or nausea
• Slurred speech or facial weakness
• Unusual fatigue or behavioral changes

For DIPG/DMG in particular, symptoms often progress quickly because of where the tumor is located in the brain.

These signs don’t always point to something serious. But parents know when something isn’t right. When symptoms persist or worsen, they deserve attention.

Why the gray ribbons for Brain Tumor Awareness? Why are we wearing gray throughout this month?

Because gray matters.

Gray represents the brain, the “gray matter” that controls everything we do, feel and experience.

We wear the ribbons and the color to honor all those affected by brain tumors, especially DIPG/DMG.

We wear it to raise awareness, to remember, and to stand with those facing this disease every day.

Callie loved singing, dancing and, yes, running and playing with her family and friends.

Today marks two years without her.

Barely a moment passes that she’s not remembered and loved. Her family treasured that bright, sparkling smile and the biggest, warmest hugs that someone so small could possibly give.

Today, we’re all thinking of Callie and her family. We’re sending all the strength and love we have!

Today is DIPG Awareness Day.

A day to pause and recognize a disease that doesn’t get nearly enough attention.

If you’re not familiar, we invite you to visit our website. Or scroll back through our social posts.

Be warned, it won’t be an easy experience. It will break your heart to read. But it will also inspire you. The resilience of these children. The strength of these families.

Their lives matter. Their stories need to be shared. Awareness is the first step toward a cure.

Thank you for being with us on this journey.

Let’s go back to basics … Because until it touches someone in their lives, most people have never even heard of DIPG.

So what is it?

Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) is one of the most aggressive forms of pediatric brain cancer. It develops in the pons, a critical part of the brain that controls breathing, heart rate and
many of the functions we never have to think about. Until something goes wrong.
In recent years, you may also hear the term Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG).

This reflects a deeper understanding of the disease. With safer biopsies, researchers have found that many of these tumors share a specific mutation (H3.3), classifying them as Grade IV gliomas. Because of this, tumors once called DIPG are now often diagnosed as DMG of the pons.

The terminology may be changing. But the reality is not.

It is the same disease.

The same heartbreak.

And the same fight for a better outcomes.

May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month.

Most people will scroll past that.

Until it’s their child. Or someone they love.

Until their entire world changes with one sentence from the doctor’s mouth.

Brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer-related death in children.

DIPG is one of the most aggressive.

And yet, less than 8% of federal funding is dedicated to pediatric cancer research.

This May, we’re not just raising awareness.

We’re fighting for more time. More options. And one day … a cure.
