A. D. Lewis Community Center

A. D. Lewis Community Center The mission of the A.D. Lewis Center is to provide a safe place for recreation and education for not only the youth, but the entire Fairfield West Community. D.

The Center is a place promoting respect for oneself and for others by showing the community an example of what hard work, dedication and determination can achieve. To teach our youth that education is the key to success and to help them set and achieve goals that will allow them to have success, is our objective at the A. Lewis Community Center. We offer many different activities at the A. The cen

ter has an inside and outside basketball court, a game room that contains a pool table, a ping pong table, an air hockey table, and a fooseball table, and a utility room that can be utilized for meetings, crafts and for showing movies. The weight room at the Center is furnished with many types of equipment such as weight benches and treadmills. We have a computer lab that is also available to adults during the day and the youth after school. In the warm months, the playground and the public pool are accessible for the community. The A. Lewis Community Center also has programs for the youth to attend. We provide nutritious meals and after school tutoring for anyone who needs help with homework. The Scratch project meets at the Center on Tuesdays and it helps teach the elementary and middle school students how to plant and grow healthy fruits and vegetables. For the middle school and high school girls we offer classes on abstinence and self- respect. High school seniors and juniors are encouraged to attend ACT prep classes held at the Center on Saturdays. Here at the Center we want all our patrons to feel that they are welcome and that it is safe place. We intended to promote and help all patrons to be productive citizens and to become assets to our community.

🦃🎁 Thanksgiving kindness was shining bright at the A.D. Lewis Community Center today.

Volunteers from the Mayor’s Office, AEP, and neighbors from across the community came together to pack and distribute Thanksgiving Boxes, a tradition started years ago by former director Thomas Hill and proudly carried on today by his daughter, Executive Director MaRia Hill.

A big thank-you to Coca-Cola and Kroger for providing the food and drinks that made these boxes possible.

Huntington shows its heart in moments like this. 🧡

Happy Thanksgiving, Huntington!
