Mission in Action Monday

Our research team at the June Harless Center is exploring how professional learning is designed and experienced in schools, and we’d love to hear from you!

We’re inviting educators to take just 15 minutes to complete a brief, anonymous survey and share their perspectives. Your insights will help us better understand what meaningful, impactful professional learning looks like in real classrooms. If you’re interested, you can also volunteer for a short follow‑up interview to share more about your experiences.

From the Field Friday💚

This week, we spent the morning with early childhood educators at Our Lady of Fatima, diving into the power of rich conversations and child‑led conflict resolution.

Together, we explored how intentional teacher language and responsive interactions can help children:
🗣️ Express their ideas and feelings
🤝 Navigate conflicts with confidence and empathy
🌱 Build independence through guided problem‑solving

One of the highlights of the session?
🎭 Role playing real‑life classroom scenarios!
Educators stepped into the learning, practicing how to support children through meaningful conversations, and had a lot of fun doing it.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of West Virginia helped celebrate 130 years of service by Children's Home Society of WV supporting children and families at this annual fun-filled free event with book giveaways, safety classes, games, and food with our valued community partners!

From the Field Friday: Children's Voices Leading the Way at Explorer Academy💚

This week, we’re celebrating the Pre‑K crew at Explorer Academy for an incredible milestone. They successfully lead their very own student‑led conferences as part of an EL Education initiative.

Families were welcomed into the classroom as children confidently shared:
✨ Their favorite greetings that build community each day
🧩 Meaningful classroom experiences that sparked their learning
📚 Project documentation that made their thinking and growth visible

These conferences placed children at the center, giving them the opportunity to reflect, communicate, and take pride in their learning journeys.
