As a veteran service organization, we’ve noticed a lot of people mix up Memorial Day and Veterans Day — and honestly, it matters to us. While we appreciate the kind words we wanted to provide a little information and perspective about the two days.

Veterans Day is a time to honor those of us who served and came home. It’s a day for gratitude, handshakes, stories, and recognizing the sacrifices made in uniform.

Memorial Day is different.

Memorial Day is for the ones who never got to come home. It’s for the brothers and sisters we lost. The empty seats at family dinners. The names etched into stone. The memories we carry every single day.

So while many see Memorial Day as the unofficial start of summer, for many veterans and families members it’s a deeply personal day of reflection, remembrance, and respect.

Enjoy the freedom they fought for — but please take a moment to remember the cost.
