Join us next Sunday, August 23rd for a Plant ID and Cyanotype Workshop! You'll learn how to identify CA native plants found on the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve and create your own cyanotype sun prints using native plants!
For a $45 contribution per attendee, you'll receive cyanotype printing materials, a mini field notebook, helpful plant ID materials, and guidance during a plant ID hike.

Are you looking to grow your birding skills?

We have plenty of spots open for August's Beginner Birder Workshop this Sunday, August 16th, from 9am-12pm! If you're wanting to get outside, explore the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, and grow your bird I.D. skills, our Beginner Birder Workshop is perfect for you!

For a program contribution of $20 per attendee, beginner birders attend a 1 hour lecture on birding techniques, etiquette, and common bird species in the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. Then, the group goes on a 2 hour birding hike with expert birders. All attendees receive a binocular rental, birding cheat sheets, and a birding journal!

Are you interested in learning how to pin butterflies? The BCC team is planning a brand new Butterfly Pinning Workshop that will include a class and live demonstration on butterfly pinning using ethically sourced butterflies native to Southern California. An instructor will guide you step by step as you learn how to pin your own butterfly, which you'll later take home in a display frame!

Because the workshop requires significant preparation and materials, we are asking all those who are interested to fill out an interest form by visiting bolsachica.org/pinningworkshop. This interest form helps us estimate attendance and plan future classes.
