We are deeply disappointed in the vandalism that occurred at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve over the weekend where a portable toilet was tipped over and a trash dumpster was-evidently- rolled onto the foot bridge and tipped over the railing into the water. This behavior has caused damage to the bridge and resulted in a difficult task to retrieve the dumpster, taking time away from other meaningful projects.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife, law enforcement, and Republic Services are well aware of the incident and we are all working to find a solution. We understand your frustration, and we are doing what we can to try to work this problem while maintaining the protection of this sensitive habitat and nesting birds nearby.

This is a perfect example of why EDUCATION about our wetlands is so important, and critical to our mission to protect, preserve, and restore the Bolsa Chica wetlands. Caring about something starts when you learn about it.
