Every year the AKA asks local chapters to contribute these little 20" diamond kites to make an arch that is often 100 kites long. The final is auctioned off to support the AKA's activities. Here are the 6 the Gateway Kite Club is submitting. Notes with the pics.

Perfect day so despite my morning covid and flu shot, I just had to get outside.
The Dresden Plate hex that is flying point up like a Rokkaku is not a rok at all. It has a central 3D printed connector that holds the spine flat but bends the 4 corners at a 15 deg dihedral. No bow lines and even for a ~40 inch kite, it folds down to a 24 inch bag.
The other kite skin is a new design and waiting for bits and pieces. Both will be (hopefully) sold at the AKA convention auction in 2 weeks.

So the temperature dropped to a pleasant 93F today and my new kite was calling me.follow the pics for the story.

On Island, off the southernmost coast of South Korea. The wind was just howling. After trying and failing a couple of kites on the beach, the ones that flew OK was my version of the ram sled and (best by far) the Ziggy Ziggy flown upside down with a tail. Usually, Ziggy flies upside down for low winds, but because the spars are at the bottom it was able to hold its shape in 30 kn gusts.

Back from various travels to find a breezy day that wouldn't melt lead. Have yet to film my quad kite flights but here is a Pearson's Roller that flew like a dream. (Thanks to my artist friend Spark Geissler for the Hawk silhouette).
