Here’s what teachers don’t always notice in the classroom…

In busy school environments, we understand that teachers are balancing so much every single day and it is not always the obvious signs that indicate when a student is struggling. More often, it is the quieter changes that can be missed.

A student may still be attending lessons, completing work and appearing to be coping well on the surface. However, internally they may be experiencing changes in confidence, connection or motivation.

Disengagement does not usually happen suddenly. It can develop gradually, through small shifts in behaviour and participation that are not always easy to identify in a classroom setting.

Some of the subtle signs that may be missed include:

- a gradual reduction in participation
- becoming quieter or less willing to contribute
- no longer asking for help when needed
- appearing more withdrawn from peers or class activity

These changes are not always clear in the moment, but they can indicate that a young person is beginning to struggle with their engagement in school life.

Recognising these signs early can help ensure that appropriate support is put in place, helping to maintain connection, confidence and inclusion.

We know how much teachers already carry and this is not about blame, it is about providing support.

We offer a range of support in schools to help staff feel confident in recognising concerns and building more positive environments. Learn more about our workshops and trainings on our website 🔗 https://bulliesout.com/what-we-do/support-for-schools/

💜 This May, as a charity, we will celebrate 20 years of standing up against bullying behaviour, empowering young people and creating safer communities.

We’re proud to have made 20 years of impact, but there’s so much more we want to do and so many more people to help.

If you’re a parent, here’s how you can support our 20th year:

✨ Let your child’s school know about BulliesOut and the workshops we offer
✨ Share our resources with other parents
✨ Learn skills with our training
✨Take part in or organise a fundraiser

We know how worrying bullying behaviour can be for families. Our mission has always been simple: to help create environments where young people feel safe, supported and heard.

Thank you to every parent who has trusted us over the past 20 years. And if you’re new here, welcome and here’s to the next 20 years of change!

Driving a 40-foot vehicle is a skill.

Driving a 40-foot vehicle while knowing exactly who threw that paper airplane? That's amazing.

Driving a 40-foot vehicle while navigating potholes, carpool lines, AND the back-of-the-bus drama? That's a superpower!

Thank you for everything you do, bus drivers. 💛
