Fellow Edison Chargers

Some of you may remember fellow staff member Gordon McCollom who was killed in a wing-walking accident the summer of 1975. Gordon was a popular English teacher and gymnastics coach at Edison beginning in 1973. In the fall of '75 school year a stained glass window was placed in the library in his memory. During the modernization of the campus in the early 2000's it was placed in storage and until recently appeared to be lost. Well, it's been found. Chuck Jensen and I are attempting to have the window reframed and placed back into the library along with a commemorative bronze plaque. Obviously, we need some funds to do so. Our estimate for the project is $1,500. If you would like to donate to the cause you can do so in the following ways. Old school, mail a check made out to Edison Alumni HOF and sent to Edison High School c/o Alumni HOF 21400 Magnolia St. H.B. 92646. Venmo Bruce -Belcher-1. Or finally, go on the Edison Alumni HOF website at edisonhbalumnihof.com and make a donation through our paypal connection. All donations of $100 or more will receive a tax deductible donation letter. When completed we plan to have a rededication ceremony hopefully this fall.

Request for Alumni HOF Nominations
The Edison High School Alumni Hall of Fame was created in 2015 to honor Edison High School graduates who have distinguished themselves in their career or vocation SINCE high school. This award will serve as a way of maintaining the heritage and tradition of Edison High School. It will also provide role models for the current student body. To make a nomination for this years’ class of inductees please go to our web site at edisonhbalumnihof.com. This will bring up the Alumni Hall of Fame criteria for the award as well as the necessary application form. You can also see the previous inductees by year with a brief bio on their accomplishments. There is also criteria and a nomination form on the Edison High School Alumni HOF page. For this years’ class, nominations are due by April 1 and award winners will be honored at a banquet in the fall.
When nominating an Edison Alum only one nomination form is necessary but it is advisable that you provide letters of support, background information (Newspaper articles, testimonials, etc.) and anything else that you might feel will support their nomination. Additional background information has proved to be a crucial element to a successful selection.
We hope that we can get the message out to the Charger Family. If you have any social media connection’s please feel free to share this announcement. Also, if you’d like to make a donation for the awards program it can be sent to Edison High School c/o Alumni Hall of Fame Committee, 21400 Magnolia, H.B. 92646. If anyone has any question’s they can contact Bruce Belcher at [email protected].
