This week our Webelos had the privilege of touring Irvine Police Department and had a very thorough “Emergency Preparedness” training session. Just as the boys felt a little hungry, they “experienced” an earthquake simulation grabbing their go-bags and headed outside, where they prepared their MRE meals. These scouts won’t forget this experience. Thank you Irvine PD and our very own Bobby Simmons for this amazing opportunity.

Today is HB’s Pack 1 “Annual Summer Bonfire” at Huntington Beach State Beach (Tower 12) today between 3-7:30pm. We will be welcoming our new scouting families and kicking of the 2023/24 scouting year.

Proud of our Webelos scouts as they will be performing a flag retirement ceremony. Part of our civic duty and local outreach for our Surf City community is collecting flags that need to be retired (i.e., torn, faded, ripped, or stained, etc). If you have a flag please contact us as we have several ceremonies throughout the year.

Blessed for our freedom and our beach.

Bears successfully completed their “Furs, Feathers and Ferns” adventure at Bolsa Chica Conservancy in last week. The hike on the trail allowed the boys to observe first hand the ecological significance of Bolsa Chica Wetlands.

A few highlights, seeing a Coyote hunting in the brush, Snow Egrets feeding, that Coastal Sage can act as mosquito repellent and quite the chemistry lesson from Ms. Whitney.

Sometimes an adventure can be in your backyard.
