There are children in every city in America -
Without a family,
Without a permanent home,
Without a support system,
Without hope for a future...
And we believe that the Body of Christ is the Answer.
There are 100,000 children in America who have no family. Children who entered the US foster care system, through no fault of their own, with the hope of one day being able to return home, only to have those dreams dashed when their parent’s rights were terminated. 100,000 kids with not only hopes and dreams for their futures, but more importantly, a longing and desire for a new and forever family.
On any given Sunday, millions of people flood through the doors of over 350,000 churches in America. Churches, filled with families, who have empty beds and empty rooms in their homes. Where is the disconnect? If ONE family out of every THREE churches in the United States adopted a foster child, we would have no orphans in America!
While it’s an easily solvable problem, it’s still bigger than one person, one church, or one community to solve on its own. For our part, we believe that God is calling us to create a documentary that will be used to catalyze a movement for years to come. This documentary will be FREE to any church or group willing to show it. We will be traveling across the US to interview experts and weave together stories of adoptive families & former foster youth. But this film can only happen through the collective efforts of many, and that is where YOU come in. By donating towards the creation of this film, you will be playing an integral part in re-writing a child’s story, literally helping to save a child’s life. Together, we can give every child “A Home for Good.”
Amy King is the founder and director of For the Orphan, a city wide-ministry in Salt Lake City, Utah that educates and equips churches to live out their calling to care for orphans, whether locally or globally. Born and raised just outside of Detroit Michigan, Amy has a degree in Interpersonal Communications from Oakland University.
Amy started in full-time ministry at Kensington Church in Troy, MI., as a creative service producer. In 2003 she moved to Salt Lake City to help plant K2 The Church where she continued in Sunday service production and first got her feet wet in video production, discovering a love and gifting for story-telling. In 2005, on a two-week trip visiting orphanages across 3 regions in Russia, God “gloriously ruined” her life for the fatherless. After getting her church involved in ministry in Russia, and seeing kids from their sponsored orphanages adopted by families at her church, Amy knew that God was calling her to step away from her production role and into full time orphan care & adoption advocacy. This calling took her to Austin, TX., and on staff at The Austin Stone Community Church. After 2 and a half years in Austin, she returned to Salt Lake City in 2013 to start For the Orphan. Over the past 5 years she has watched dozens of churches step into their calling to care for the least of these. While she has spent time over the years working with orphans in Russia, Haiti, Brazil, Mexico, Ethiopia and Swaziland, the past few years she has focused much of her work on the US foster care system. As the daughter of a former foster child she has watched her life come full circle and considers it the ultimate privilege and a life-long calling to be a voice for those who do not have one.

Though he had traversed 13 countries and 46 states, walked the Red Carpet and lived what felt like a dream life, Cecil says his life did not begin until the day he became a father. With new awareness of the great need we have for the adoption of legally free foster children, Cecil now campaigns for Christians to step forward and become the forever families Christ’s children deserves.
