Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone! đşđ¸Although it's certainly not great pool weather right now, we wanted to provide you with a quick update on some POOL RELATED MATTERS for awareness, transparency, and constructive feedback. This is a long post, but there's a lot happening and always work to be done.
(1) We have 24 lounge chairs that were picked up from the pool by a Charlotte-area company for restrapping, and they're to be returned by this Friday. Over time, many of the straps have become worn and stained from sunscreen, lotion, and sweat. About half of these loungers were used last season, and the other half were stored in the pool pump room. So, when we get them back next week, we'll have the most loungers on the deck we've ever had at one time. The plan had been to complete this project before opening last weekend, but for various reasons, we weren't able to. With the rainy and cooler weekend and coming week, they might not be missed as much.
(2) We've had some annoying red clay staining on our new deck surface, but we've recently found the right cleaner to safely clean them up now and in the future if needed.
(3) There are a couple of very small spots where the new deck surface didn't adhere to the base surface. We've been in contact with Sundek, the company that applied the new surface to our pool deck last October. We're requesting that they make the repairs as soon as possible. We're also requesting that they adjust the channel drain covers on the deck so they don't keep popping up slightly.
(4) The pool perimeter fence and gate were professionally painted by CertaPro Painting a few weeks ago, and all 13 missing post caps were replaced.
(5) HandsForHire will be out in a couple of weeks to replace the entire door and frame to the pool pump building and do some work inside the building to replace drywall where there was water damage. The door for the pool attendant room will also be replaced.
(6) We're working to replace the filter for the water fountain as soon as possible. Please note that we cannot repair the water bottle filler sensor because it's too expensive and wouldn't last long anyway since it's not rated for outdoor use.
(7) The original 50-gallon water heater tank that was over 25 years old and hadn't been working for at least the last 7 years has been replaced. Warm water is now available in the bathroom sinks and showers!
(8) Future 2027 pool projects include replacing and updating the countertops in the bathrooms along with new faucets, a new urinal, new paint, etc. We're also looking into new commercial-grade shade options for a section of the deck.
(9) We receive several questions & comments regarding the open pool hours every year. Weâve adjusted some over the last couple years based on feedback like having operating hours 7 days a week rather than closing on Mondays like we did in 2023 & 2024. We also receive comments about not being open early enough or late enough. They are all fair questions and something the Board discusses every season. If we could, weâd be open 12 hours a day. But, every open hour costs money and we need to be good stewards of HOA funds. In full season, the pool is open 9 hours a day from 10:30am - 7:30pm. There are some who want it open much earlier and some who want it open much later. You can never make everyone happy all of the time, so all we can do is to hit the âsweet spotâ in the middle. Although our pool operates only around 3 1/2 months of the year, itâs the most expensive part of the annual budget.
If you read through this entire post, thank you!
Weâll try to put more information out like this going forward so that youâre aware of what your volunteer members of the HOA are working on!
