🌱 Did You Know?

What kids eat can directly influence their mood, focus, and emotional resilience. Studies show that nutrient‑dense foods support healthier brain function, while high‑sugar and ultra‑processed foods can increase anxiety and mood swings.

Simple ways to support youth mental wellness:

Add whole foods daily

Include healthy fats (nuts, seeds, avocados)

Reduce sugary drinks

Nourish the body, strengthen the mind.
Define the Fight. Cultivate to Grow.

Help us nourish our youth this Giving Hearts Day with your kind donation. We need all hands in the soil:)

Our youth are facing a growing health crisis — limited access to nutritious foods, rising food scarcity, and a widening gap in understanding how nourishment shapes their well‑being.

Cultivate to Grow is giving students hands‑on experiences that build confidence, teach real nutrition, and show them what it means to grow something that nourishes their bodies and their identity.

As we move toward Giving Hearts Day on February 12, we’re inviting our community to stand with us in expanding this work and supporting healthier futures for our youth.

Defining the fight and creating a health movement.

Over the past year, our Cultivate to Grow program has continued to show us what happens when young people are given space to explore, create, and lead. We’ve watched students discover nourishment, stewardship, confidence, and the grounding power of getting their hands in the soil. Their curiosity has turned into ownership as they’ve planted, tasted, learned, and stepped into simple entrepreneurship through their plant sales.

This year, we’ll continue our Cultivate to Grow program at Northern Cass while introducing small pilot experiences within FM schools and surrounding rural communities. The movement is expanding one classroom, one seed, and one young leader at a time.

More growth ahead. More impact ahead. More young leaders rising.

Community Roots lie deep with Crystal Sugar and we are grateful for their support in our Culitvate to Grow Program Define The Fight Org. We have nationwide visions to create healthier leaders from the soil to the soul in our youth, and none of this would be possible without strong community support.

Today in studio, I brought in two alike food items, one being organic the other nonorganic. The learners sampled them one at a time, rating A versus B in taste, then stating if they thought it was organic. See the white board on the taste selection. There was only one item that wasn’t organic that won…darn goldfish crackers 😉

I loved seeing the learners selecting and recognizing the better taste and quality of the organic food. Thank you Northern Cass School District #97 for the opportunity to provide the Cultivate to Grow program, and thank you office rockstars for allowing the learners to test your buds:).

Note: The organic foods are circled and starred for taste.

Watching and listening to the learners excitement as their plants start to germinate brings joy to my ❤️. The middle schoolers are learning more than how to grow plants. They are learning about the direct impact our environment has on the soil, plant and human health. Not to mention, how to become an entrepreneur! Defining the fight through a hands-on approach. We appreciate your support!
