Humboldt Tennessee Historical Society Monthly Meetings are held at the Humboldt Public Library. All are invited to attend. Humboldt Historical Society is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization.

Mission Statement:The Humboldt Historical Society believes that an understanding and appreciation of our historic heritage is essential to maintaining a meaningful and unique identity as a town. The mission of the Humboldt Historical Society is to celebrate and preserve the history of the City of Humboldt and surrounding communities and its people and to assure that this legacy is passed on to fut

ure generations. We will: educate and engage the public through a variety of programs; maintain our history website and page, and collections; research and publish historic records; identify and encourage preservation of significant places and structures throughout the town; and manage the society openly, ethically, and professionally.

Big Doug Atkins from Humboldt, Tennessee. At 6-8, 260 pounds Doug was a massive individual on the football team in the early 1950’s. He originally enrolled at UT to play basketball but also lettered 3 years in track while making his mark on the gridiron. In fact Atkins was runner-up in the 1952 SEC high jump. His 6’-6” achievement was 25th best in the world that year.

From Vision to Reality!

The Humboldt Public Library will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Children's Library on Wednesday, May 28th at 11:30am. We invite the community to come out and celebrate with us. There will be a photo opportunity and refreshments will be served. Make plans to join us for this special occasion.
