Executive Summary


Woodland Education Center aspires to be a pioneer in the Northeast Houston area. The Woodland Education Center has hosted a free chess academy and multiple youth workshops in the community. The center has demonstrated the important role of education centers providing education opportunities for Texas diverse youth. The Woodland Education Center aspires to be one of the leading not-for-profit community organizations in the state of Texas. The need for additional support and forms of education in Texas’s public school system is unquestionable. According to Wallethub (2023) Texas landed at No. 40 on a new ranking of U.S. states based on their education levels. Researchers with online finance site WalletHub compared all 50 states across 18 metrics, including educational attainment, school quality and achievement gaps between genders and races. Many of the local schools are overcrowded; and the shortage of teachers has weakened the quality of education. WEC has plans to shift the landscape of Texas education by providing the development of youth both academically and in life. Services

The Woodland Education Center will provide a number of services to the community. We will have after school tutoring services. Additionally, we will provide workshops BiMonthly for the community's youth. We have additional programming for the summer as well. Lastly, we will serve as a support for at-risk students and youth who are in need of programming.
