This past week our 2026-27 Hugo FFA Officer Team traveled to McAlester to attend the SE Area C**T Conference. The FFA Chapter was awarded a grant courtesy of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation and sponsored by AEP-PSO of Oklahoma. Representing PSO were Tory White and Arlinda Darst along with Exectuve Director of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation Jacey Fye. The officers enjoyed a well inspired conference full of leadership training and gained skills they brought back to the local chapter to make this year a success!

FFA Officer Retreat from last weekend! Took the students to Dallas/Frisco Area for an overnight getaway to bond and learn more about each other along with some planning as well as experiencing agriculture in a major urban setting! Had a great time at TopGolf on Friday night where some of the rookie golfers enjoyed learning how to hit a golf ball for the first time. Food was good while we enjoyed each others fellowship. The night ended with a meeting in the players lounge reflecting on last year, looking to improve this year and setting some personal goals. On Saturday we spent our morning at the Dallas Farmers Market with over 200 vendors. It was their annual Watermelon Festival celebrating all of the varieties that Texas Watermelon growers raise and sell across the state. Lunch was great at Pappasitos Mexican Restaurant. We finished the day off by touring Southfork Ranch where the famous nighttime Soap Opera “Dallas” took place. It was a neat experience to see where some of the scenes were filmed and the history of the ranch. All in all a good time was enjoyed by each and every ffa officer! Looking forward to the best year yet!

Today, the Oklahoma FFA family mourns the passing of former State Supervisor of Agricultural Education and Oklahoma State FFA Advisor, Jack Staats.

Mr. Staats dedicated his life to agricultural education, FFA, and the development of young people across Oklahoma. His leadership, vision, and servant heart left a lasting impact on countless students, teachers, and communities.

We are grateful for his many years of service and the legacy he leaves behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Staats family and all who were blessed to know him.
