The Hugo VFW Auxiliary has exciting news! We have asked the Genoa-Hugo Sophomore class to come up with three designs for the Korean War Monument to be placed in front of the VFW Hall on 4th Ave. In turn, the Hugo VFW Auxiliary will help to raise funds for their trip to Washington DC to learn about our country's history, visit Arlington National Cemetery and other military monuments in that area. The sophomores' designs will be judged by three of our local military veterans and the Hugo VFW Auxiliary President. Stay tuned as we post updates on the projects by the G-H Sophomores!

Tonight is THE NIGHT!! Colorado Springs Astronomical Society will be in Hugo with some of their powerful telescopes set up for our viewing pleasure! Come to the Coulson Trail at 8:30pm to get ready to see the starry sky like you've never seen it before. Want to see a planet? Me, too! Maybe we will get lucky! Its best to arrive around 8:30pm to give yourself about 30 minutes to adjust to the darkness.

I am definitely late in sharing this good news, but it's definitely well deserved!

VaLinda Eberle was presented with the Salute to Service award on April 21st at the VFW Auxiliary District Meeting. The award was presented to her by District Commander, Robert Renfrew. VaLinda has dedicated an abundance of her time to the Hugo VFW Auxiliary Post 6612 as their President. One of the highlights of her year of service was raising enough money to have the mural painted on the outside of the Hugo VFW building. It looks beautiful! Thank you VaLinda for all of your hard work and dedication. Congratulations!

This past Saturday the VFW Auxiliary Post 6612 Hugo hosted their first Annual Family New Year's Celebration. Our goal was to have a night of fun for the whole family, to show our gratitude for the community's support throughout the year. I think it was a success! It was so awesome to see families dancing together, teens hanging out, kids playing games, all enjoying some good food and snacks! We could not have pulled this off without the help of some amazing people. Thank you Danny Adams for being our MC and DJ. You brought the party and everyone loved it! Thank you to John Palmer and the Lincoln County Fairgrounds for allowing us to reserve the building for the evening under short notice and being so accommodating. Thank you to Nick and Tiffany Stewart and the Lincoln County Co****lers for loaning us the Co****le boards, they were a hit! Thank you to Lucille Reimer for helping to sponsor the shuttle service from Limon to Hugo with the Outback Express. Thank you to the Limon Chamber of Commerce and PinBowl Alley for donating gift certificates for us to give away to a few of our lucky guests. Thank you to Bart and Amanda Butler, Jennifer and Zane Nestor for keeping the food hot and ready to serve all night. Thank you to Landon Nestor, Sierra Allen, Caiden Allen, and DJ Allen for helping us set up and clean up. And, of course, thank you to everyone who came out and had a good time with us. We are so lucky to have such a supportive community and friends! Can't wait to do it again next year and make it even bigger and better! We love the feedback we have received and have definitely taken notes!
