Incredible! With the dry, windy weather we have had lots of little brush fires going across the state in the last 48 hours...so many, I had to triple check the data...most fires are very small spot/brush/grass fires, but the little icons marking the locations of each incident make it look like the state is burning lol

Our relative humidity in the last two afternoons has been bone dry, in the 15-20% range...and we have lots of dead foliage from that brutally cold last week of January!

On the evening of February 27, the western horizon will host a quiet cosmic performance one that resembles a smiling face drawn across the twilight sky.
As daylight fades, turn your eyes toward the west just after sunset. There you’ll notice radiant Venus glowing brilliantly, outshining nearly every other object in the sky. Close by, steady and luminous, Jupiter will add its golden presence. Beneath them, a delicate crescent Moon will arc gently upward, completing the impression of a glowing grin.
This alignment known as a triple conjunction is a perspective effect. Though these worlds are separated by vast stretches of space, sometimes hundreds of millions of miles apart, their orbits briefly position them so they appear close together from Earth.
No telescope is required. No special equipment is needed. A clear view of the horizon and a few peaceful moments outdoors are enough to witness it.
Events like this remind us that the solar system is always in motion, constantly shifting and occasionally arranging itself into patterns that stir wonder. For one evening, the sky will seem playful as if the universe itself has chosen to smile.
Be sure to look up and enjoy the view.
