The little rescue cat that requires a leg amputation has given birth to a litter of kittens today. Unfortunately, our fundraising efforts have only yielded $200 toward her surgery, and we now face significant expenses for the kittens' vaccinations and spay/neuter procedures. Due to limited resources, we are currently unable to assist with TNR requests for nearby colonies and are at risk of having to discontinue these services altogether without additional support. Your donation would greatly contribute to our ability to continue providing these essential services for the ferals of the Lowcountry. I do not want to stop our TNR efforts but I also cannot continue to absorb the majority of the costs out of my own pocket. Please help us to continue helping the ferals and donate if you can and share this post if able. Thank you so much!!

Felis catus: Native to Human Spaces
TNR is care. Killing is failure.

The story of community cats has never been about too little humane policy. It has always focused on "too many cats." That is just the excuse to kill.

Cats exist outdoors because humans put them there through abandonment, displacement, and years of local government neglect. Blaming the cats distracts agencies from modernizing and wildlife groups from facing the real causes of ecological decline: habitat loss, pollution, urban expansion, and human-caused environmental collapse.

Community cats are not an “invasive threat.” They are domesticated animals living on the edges of human society, and they deserve the same compassion we show to any other pet.

TNR is the only ethical, evidence-based response.

Trap-Neuter-Return doesn’t “control overpopulation.” It ends preventable suffering by stopping the reproductive cycle, stabilizing colonies, and allowing cats to live their lives without producing more kittens outdoors, who would face harsh conditions.

TNR works because it reflects reality:

- Cats are already here because of human actions.
- Removing them creates a vacuum that quickly fills.
- Stabilized, sterilized colonies naturally decline over time.
- Caregivers provide food, monitoring, and medical support.
- Communities see fewer complaints, fewer kittens, and fewer deaths.

No killing.
No excuses.
No manufactured crisis.
The real cruelty is the outdated system.

Catch-and-kill has failed for over a century. It wastes taxpayer money, traumatizes communities, and does nothing to change outcomes. Mandatory licensing, feeding bans, and punitive laws don’t “solve” anything; they simply punish compassion and force cats into more dangerous situations.

A humane society doesn’t punish caregivers. A humane society supports those doing the work. The standard is simple:

Leave the cats alone.
Support TNR.
Protect caregivers.
End lethal impoundment.

Community cats are part of our shared landscape. They are not the enemy. Cruelty, neglect, and outdated policy are.

Aberdingus came thru her surgery with flying colors! She is recovering well and will hopefully be released back to her area this weekend! We are still trying to raise funds for her sister to get that leg dealt with. We have about 175$ raised so far which is a far cry from the $2000 we need. Please please donate if you can!!

Update: We have raised 135$ so far. We have a long way to go! She and her sister are settling in. Her sister goes for her spay, vaccinate, microchip and ear tipping tomorrow!

Hey everyone! We were tagged in a Facebook post about this little one and of course I couldn’t say no! We desperately need funds to get her spayed and get that leg amputated. I’m getting estimates of around 2500$ and I do not have the money for that saved up. (I also got her littermate and have an appointment for her on Weds to be spayed and vaccinated etc which I do have enough for that and we are working on trapping the mom as well!). I would love to have this little girl taken care of ASAP so once we raise enough money I will get her scheduled. Please donate if you can and share on your page if possible! It’s definitely going to take a village on this one! Thank you all so so much!!! I am forever grateful!

Sad update on the little feral we rescued the other nite. Due to the severity of her issues,I made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her. Her mouth was absolutely horrific and she was slowly starving to death. It really sucked because she was so young, but,in the end, trying to treat this would have been so unfair to her and would have probably resulted in euthanasia anyway. I’ve posted her radiographs below. I’m so sorry, little one. I wish the outcome would have been different. If anyone would like to donate to her vet bill,I’ve posted the Venmo as well. Thank you to everyone who texted and asked about her. At least she knew love and care at the end.

What do you do when your husband wakes you up at 3am (when you have only been asleep for about an hour and half )and tells you there is an injured feral cat in the middle of the road that appears blind? Why you jump out of bed, grab a carrier,a net and a towel and go find said injured cat. Then, with your husband as your feral family man, you promptly chase said injured cat down the middle of the road and thru the woods in your pjs, bedroom shoes and wild hair until you successfully net him and get him in a carrier. Then you bring said feral injured cat home, transfer him to a trap, set him up with some food, treat him for fleas, and then go back to bed bc you have to be up in 45 mins. Never a dull moment up in this hood. Never. A. Dull. Damn. Moment.

Life has been utterly bonkers around here lately! I just rolled back from a whirlwind 7-day adventure in Maryland where I lent a hand to an international rescue group - and boy, did I learn a ton! I'm stoked to be part of their crew, saving the world one furry friend at a time. Their work with abused and rescued animals is the real deal, and I'm all in for the long haul! Bring on more bottle-feeding and tail-wagging joy!

Speaking of which, kitten season is in full swing, and we're up to our necks in adorable chaos with two bottle babies, Mayo and BoBo Bean, who are thriving despite keeping us up all night. My sleep deprivation is at an all time high but I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Now that the sun's out, we're gearing up for some serious TNR action. We've got a few ferals on camera, and they're first in line for a sterilization day at the vet. Oh, and did I mention I've become a pro at wrangling raccoons and opossums? They're so chill with me now that they barely even acknowledge me when I release them - just a sassy little glance that says, 'What took you so long?' before they mosey on their way, probably planning their next meal.

On a more serious note, our TNR program could use a financial boost - because rescuing all these critters doesn't come cheap. If you can spare some change, I've got my Venmo at the ready, or I can send you my address if that's your style. We're also in dire need of cat food, paper bowls, and p*e pads - because trapping requires a lot of each!

Thanks in advance for your help - you're the real MVPs. Here's to a wildly successful trapping month - may the traps forever be in our favor!!

Use Venmo to connect with Stella's Southern Angels () - We are a non-profit that works to get supplies to animals in disaster areas as well as help save horses in kill pens and TNR cats of the low country.

From your favorite success story,
Dr. Wren Lee Hazard 😌💅

Michelle — the woman, the myth, the absolute rescue legend behind Stella's Southern Angels— thank you for not only saving my life, but for delivering me straight into the VIP lifestyle I currently enjoy at the vet clinic. Honestly? Icon behavior. 👑

Because of you, I now live a life of:
✨ Questionable amounts of loving (borderline excessive, possibly illegal in 3 states)
🍗 A truly unhinged abundance of food
🛏️ Cozy beds in every strategic nap location
🧸 A PLETHORA of toys — like, emotionally overwhelming levels of toys

I went from rescue baby to clinic royalty, and I’m not saying it’s your fault… but it’s definitely your fault. 💁‍♀️🐶

Thank you for seeing something in me, believing in me, and placing me exactly where I belong — in a building full of snacks, attention, and humans who worship me daily.

Happy Birthday to the human who changed my entire life trajectory and accidentally created a very spoiled clinic cat. 🥳🐾
Legend. Icon. Problematic in the best way.

With dramatic gratitude and zero humility,
Dr. Wren Lee Hazard 💖🐕
