Berkeley Co. Deputies Conduct One-Day Traffic Safety Enforcement on Clements Ferry Road

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. - (Thursday, April 14, 2022) The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic safety enforcement operation in collaboration with the City of Charleston Police Department. The enforcement was a one-day saturation with a special emphasis on the Clements Ferry Road corridor. Berkeley County deputies along with CPD conducted the traffic enforcement following complaints regarding roadway safety and speed-related collisions along the Clements Ferry corridor.

“We have received numerous complaints about increased speeds and aggressive drivers along Clements Ferry Road.” Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis said. “We want to make it clear to motorists that we are always around, and we will continue to conduct proactive patrols to target dangerous drivers. Every motorist deserves to arrive to their destination - unharmed.”

The total results from the operation were 54 citations and 29 warnings. Most of the violations during the operation were for speeding.

Berkeley Co. Deputies Conduct Two-Day Traffic Safety Enforcement on Clements Ferry Road

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. - (Tuesday, March 15, 2022) The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic safety enforcement operation in collaboration with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety and the City of Charleston Police Department. The enforcement was a two-day saturation with a special emphasis on the Clements Ferry Road corridor.

“We have received numerous complaints about increased speeds and aggressive drivers along Clements Ferry Road.” Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis said. “We want to make it clear to motorists that we are always around, and we will continue to conduct proactive patrols to target dangerous drivers. Every motorist deserves to arrive to their destination - unharmed.”

Berkeley County deputies along with SCDPS and CPD conducted the traffic enforcement following complaints regarding roadway safety and speed-related collisions along the Clements Ferry corridor.

The two-day operation yielded the following results:
March 2 (morning): 22 citations; 2 warnings
March 2 (afternoon): 8 citations; 5 warnings
March 3 (morning): 7 citations; 7 warnings
March 3 (afternoon): 8 citations; 22 warnings

The total results from the operation were 58 citations and 82 warnings. Most of the violations during the operation were for speeding.

We are collecting diapers and wipes to help support our local babies in foster care! Last year, BCSO was able to collect over 7,000 diapers and 16,000 wipes in TWO WEEKS for Closet of Hope. Closet of Hope is a local, non-profit charity that assists local foster children.

It's that time of year again as we partner up with this amazing organization helping our children in foster care. Last year we collected over 7,300 diapers and 16,000. Lets do an amazing job again this year. We are collecting now through March 15th.
