๐ŸŒฟโœจ What a great day at the 2026 Florida Parent Educators Association Homeschool Convention! โœจ๐ŸŒฟ

Green Jean Foundation has loved spending time today meeting homeschool families, educators, and students who are excited about hands-on learning and agricultural education.

Weโ€™ve had so many wonderful conversations about gardening, aquaponics, sustainability, STEM, and creating opportunities for students to connect with the environment through real-world experiences. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ”ฌ

Itโ€™s inspiring to see so many families passionate about learning that encourages curiosity, creativity, responsibility, and exploration outside the traditional classroom.

If youโ€™re attending the convention, thereโ€™s still time to stop by booth 741and connect with us! Weโ€™d love to meet you, answer questions, and talk about ways to bring agriculture and experiential learning into your educational journey. ๐Ÿ’š

What if healing looked like community, purpose, and a garden?
In this episode of the Modern Farming Podcast, we sit down with Elizabeth Statzer of Vincent House Pasco to explore how their unique clubhouse model helps adults living with mental illness find friendship, purpose, and practical life skills in a non-clinical setting.
From greenhouse work to shared meals, this conversation is a powerful reminder that agriculture can grow more than food. It can grow hope.

๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒพAnd this is exactly why we do what we do. How many young people can tell you this much about where their food comes from, how it's grown and the value of raising their own food.
We extend a special Thank You to EVO Academy for sharing the progress of their garden and the engagement of their students. We look forward to the future of this program.๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿชด

๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŒฝ Fresh From Florida: Whatโ€™s in Season Right Now? ๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿ‰

Florida is overflowing with fresh, seasonal produce this time of year! Grocery stores, roadside stands, and local farmers markets are filled with Florida-grown favorites like watermelon, sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, blueberries, peppers, squash, peaches, okra, and more. ๐ŸŒฑโ˜€๏ธ

One of the best ways to enjoy produce at its peak flavor is to shop seasonally and locally. Keep an eye out for the โ€œFresh From Floridaโ€ label when shoppingโ€”or even better, visit a local farmers market or roadside stand to support Florida growers directly while enjoying produce harvested close to home. ๐Ÿšœ๐Ÿ…

Buying seasonal Florida produce not only supports local agriculture, but also helps connect communities to where their food comes from and the hardworking farmers who grow it.

Fresh, local, and grown close to homeโ€”it doesnโ€™t get much better than that. ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒฟโœจ Itโ€™s Finally Time to Play in the Sensory Garden! โœจ๐ŸŒฟ

After months of planning, building, and improvements throughout the year, Green Jean Foundation was so excited to officially welcome students and families into the new sensory garden during a very special picnic celebration! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿงธ

With the help of an incredible group of 5th graders, families were invited to explore the garden together and enjoy all the thoughtful sensory-focused additions that have transformed the space into a welcoming environment for connection, exploration, and outdoor learning.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was seeing parents and children experience the garden side-by-sideโ€”playing, discovering, and spending time together in a space intentionally designed to support and engage AIM students.

From sensory activities to moments of exploration, the garden truly came to life in the best possible way. Seeing students excitedly share the space with their families made every hour of work throughout the year worth it.

This project has been a true community effort, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make it possible. While the garden is already creating meaningful experiences, it will continue to grow over the summer as additional planting brings even more life and color into the space. ๐ŸŒฑ

Little-Known Agriculture Careers: Beneficial Insect Specialist ๐Ÿž

Yes, this is a real job.

Instead of fighting pests with chemicals, Beneficial Insect Specialists work with nature by raising and releasing helpful insects like ladybugs, lacewings, and parasitic wasps to protect crops naturally.

Think science + sustainability + agriculture.

These specialists help farmers grow healthier food, reduce pesticide use, and create stronger growing systems.

Perfect for people who love:

๐Ÿž๐ŸŒฟ Bug Hunt Adventures at Skye Ranch! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿž

Green Jean Foundation had so much fun exploring the garden with the 1st grade explorers at Skye Ranch during an exciting Bug Hunt activity!

Students searched high and low to discover the many organisms that call a garden home, leading to great discussions about biodiversity, ecosystems, and the important role that insects and other living things play in keeping gardens healthy and thriving.

From pollinators to decomposers, students learned that a garden is much more than just plantsโ€”itโ€™s a connected environment filled with life, each organism contributing in its own unique way.

Watching students explore with such curiosity and excitement was a wonderful reminder that some of the best learning happens when we step outside and experience nature firsthand. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š

Be sure to check out the photos and see if you can spot the hornworm caterpillar these intrepid explorers discovered hiding in the garden! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ›
