Yesterday, River Valley Charities was proud to help convene a regional FoodShare discussion alongside the Hunger Prevention Council - Pierce County, St. Croix Valley Food Bank, and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin
More than 30 leaders and partners from food pantries, public health, healthcare, schools, shelters, nonprofits, and community organizations across Pierce, Polk, St. Croix and Burnett counties came together to discuss barriers families face in accessing FoodShare and other essential resources.
The conversation highlighted both the challenges and opportunities ahead, from technology and transportation barriers to the importance of trusted local relationships, education, and collaboration. We also heard thoughtful discussion around how organizations can better connect families not only to food resources, but to broader supports that help create long-term stability.
A sincere thank you to Brooklynn Gray and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin for traveling to our region to share updates, resources, and expertise, and to the St. Croix Valley Food Bank for hosting yesterday’s gathering.
River Valley Charities is grateful to help facilitate the growing Emergency Food Systems (EFS) group, which brings organizations together around food insecurity and related community challenges across the St. Croix Valley. Yesterday’s meeting reinforced just how valuable it is when organizations come together, share ideas openly, and work toward solutions collaboratively.
If you or your organization are interested in being part of future EFS conversations, we’d love to connect.
