St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity SCV Habitat builds strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. FAQ's:

Q: How does Homeownership work?

A: Families in need of decent, affordable housing apply for homeownership with their local Habitat for Humanity. Habitat’s family selection committee selects homeowners based on three criteria:
The applicant’s level of need, Their willingness to partner with Habitat, Their ability to repay a mortgage through an affordable payment plan. Habitat’s homebuyers invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, called sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and other Habitat homeowners, in addition to paying an affordable mortgage and receiving financial education. Habitat for Humanity follows a nondiscriminatory policy of family selection. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing Habitat’s homeowners. Q: How are donations distributed and used? A: Habitat depends on financial donations to fund our work. These donations help families build a place they can call home. We rely on gifts from individuals, corporations and other groups to help families in need of decent and affordable homes around the world. All donations of any amount are deeply appreciated. Another busy week in the books! 🥳 Thursday was a big deal not just because it was crane day, but because it was the first day of our 4th annual Pride Build! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Our Thursday group worked on prepping the foundation for one of the modular homes to be set, as well as insulating the crawl space in the already-set home and installing siding on that home. Friday we were joined by folks from Andersen Windows + Doors, who continued siding, staked out the driveway, and worked on sheathing the garage. Thank you so much to the teams on both days for joining us to get things done and to celebrate LGBTQ+ history month on these beautiful fall days!

We also have to give a big thank you to our coffee, pastry, and food donors: Baldwin Perk Waystone Coffee Co., and Subway. (And thank you Waystone, for the wonderful pride stickers! 🥰)
