Takes A Village Initiative Pasco(TAVIP) borrows from the old African proverb “Takes a Village to Raise a Child” and takes a grass roots approach to addressing homelessness while enriching quality of life as well as promoting commerce and job creation for Pasco County communities as a whole. TAVIP’s goal is to create better communities one village at a time. Instead of treating a symptom or even one problem, the theory of this solution is to create a healthy economical and sociological environment to nurture and facilitate success and prosperity within our communities. This starts with community outreach and involvement; a proactive technique of knocking on doors and getting residents involved with the betterment if the community. The second key strategy is to develop strong relationships between organizations, businesses, and local government. Offering some incentive for businesses and local government to provide more employment opportunities to citizens who might otherwise find it challenging to find a job. TAVIP intends to develop intimate relationships with organizations that provide human/social service to people in need and fill the GAPs by provided services that are currently insufficient as well as service that focus on preventative rather than responsive. As an example; vocational training could be provided by citizen volunteer, and the beneficiaries could work on county/community projects like basic construction of playgrounds and grounds keeping for a fair wage. Local businesses providing more job opportunities would benefit from additional organizational support with county regulatory concerns. TAVIP’s approach will cause a positive reciprocal effect on the community.
