🐴❤️ BAK & PREACHER ADOPTION UPDATE ❤️🐴

Look at these boys THRIVING in their new home! 🥹❤️

Bak and Preacher were two boys who were very hard for us to let go. Bak was with us for a long time and became such a huge part of our SSRR family. He overcame so many health challenges along the way, and through it all, he completely stole our hearts.

Preacher stole our hearts too, and seeing these two together, happy, healthy, loved and absolutely spoiled is everything we could have hoped for. ❤️

This is the part of rescue that is so bittersweet. We pour our hearts into them. We worry about them, fight for them, celebrate every little victory and love them like they are our own. Then, when the right home comes along, we have to love them enough to let them go.

And updates like this remind us why we do it.

Seeing Bak and Preacher thriving and knowing they are safe, loved and exactly where they are meant to be makes every hard day worth it. 🥹🐴❤️

Thank you to their wonderful family for opening your hearts and home to these two very special boys and loving them as much as we do.

Who remembers Ranger?! 🥹❤️ Look at this handsome boy growing up!

Ranger was definitely a barn favorite during his time here at SSRR. He had SO much personality, was incredibly smart, and always knew how to make us laugh. He was one of those horses who made sure you remembered him. 😂🐴

Getting updates like this is one of the best parts of rescue. Seeing the horses who once came through our gates happy, healthy, loved, and thriving in their forever homes is exactly why we do what we do.

Look how grown up and handsome Ranger is becoming! 🥰 We absolutely love watching our former SSRR horses flourish with their families.

Bae, River and Bailey are all doing wonderful, happy, healthy, and most importantly — so very loved. 🥰

What a great trio these three make, and we couldn’t have asked for a better family to call theirs. Seeing our horses settled into their forever homes, surrounded by people who love and care for them, is exactly why we do what we do.

Thank you to their amazing family for choosing adoption and for giving Bae, River and Bailey such a wonderful home. We are so grateful for the updates and for knowing these three are living their best lives together. 🐴❤️

🐴❤️ BODYWORK FUNDRAISER — ROMAN, GRACIE & TAXI ❤️🐴

We have Kelsey Griffing Equine Bodywork coming to the rescue on Wednesday, September 2nd, and we would love your help giving three of our horses a much-needed bodywork session!

Our goal is to raise $450 — $150 per horse.

Why bodywork?

A session begins with a full-body wellness evaluation and can incorporate different techniques depending on what each horse needs, including massage therapy, nerve and myofascial release, stretching, red light therapy, cold laser therapy, PEMF and more.

The goal is to help relieve tight and sore muscles, release restrictions, improve circulation, increase flexibility and improve overall comfort.

☀️ ROMAN — $150
Roman is due for bodywork. With his history of SI issues, we want to stay on top of any soreness or restrictions and keep this sweet boy as comfortable as possible.

☀️ TAXI — $150
Taxi has seemed a little off and sore lately and has a previous shoulder injury. We would like Kelsey to evaluate him and work on any areas where he may be carrying tension or discomfort.

☀️ GRACIE — $150
Gracie has started her evaluation with us, and we definitely feel she could benefit from a session. Before we continue asking more of her, we want to make sure she is feeling her absolute best. We want to address any soreness or tightness that could be affecting how she moves or responds during her evaluation.

We never want to assume something is behavioral when a horse could simply be uncomfortable. ❤️

Gracie’s evaluation has officially begun! ☀️🐴

We started this beautiful girl on the ground, and she did so well that Raeann decided to hop on and see what she thought about having a rider.

Gracie definitely decided to test Raeann a little 😂, but Raeann stuck it out and gave her the time and patience she needed.

Either way, we are so proud of this beautiful girl! Evaluations are all about taking our time, listening to the horse, and learning exactly where they are so we can figure out what they need moving forward.

ROMAN (17 year young gelding) IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME — COMPANION HOME ONLY 14.2 H
After a lot of thought, evaluation, and training, we have made the decision to offer Roman for adoption as a companion horse only.
Roman has had extensive training and we have given him every opportunity to become a riding horse. However, Roman has made it pretty clear that being ridden just isn’t the job he wants. Under saddle, he basically has one comfortable speed — a walk — and when asked for more, he may buck.
We have had a lot of interest in this handsome boy, and we know there are people who would still be willing to take him as a riding horse. But at SSRR, our responsibility doesn’t end when a horse leaves our property. We cannot responsibly or morally adopt Roman out as a riding horse knowing what he has consistently shown us under saddle.
And that is okay. 📷
Not every horse needs to have a riding job to have value. Roman deserves a family who will love him for exactly who he is and give him a wonderful life as a companion.
Roman truly is an easy boy to have around. He loves attention, is perfect for the vet and farrier, loads, ties, and is a very easy keeper. He has so many wonderful qualities and would make a great companion for the right family. 📷
We truly believe there is a person for every horse, and we are hoping Roman’s person is out there waiting for him.

*RAISED FULL FUNDS! THANK YOU!*

Unfortunately, we received a call today that no horse owner or rescue wants to receive. Sunny was kicked by another horse while at training. 💔

The vet went out today and took X-rays to make sure there was not an obvious fracture. Thankfully, nothing definitive showed up, but because a hairline fracture may not always be visible right away, Sunny will be on stall rest at the trainer’s for the next 7 days.

After that, he will most likely need another set of X-rays to make sure there isn’t a hairline fracture that becomes visible as the injury begins to heal.

💛 We need to raise $561.68 to cover Sunny’s vet bill from today. 💛

This was an unexpected expense for the rescue, and we could really use our village right now.

❤️ RIP ADOPTION UPDATE ❤️

Rip is such a perfect example of our mission here at Stricker Sunshine Rescue Ranch — Rescue • Rehabilitate • Retrain • Rehome.

We received a call about three owner-surrendered horses whose owner was no longer able to care for them. We picked them up and immediately began the refeeding and rehabilitation process, giving them time to settle in, decompress, and learn that they were safe while receiving all the love and care they needed.

All three received their necessary vetting, including dental care, but Rip gave us quite the scare during his rehabilitation. He suffered a bad colic episode, and there were some very scary moments. The vet came out, gave him fluids, tubed him, and then began two long weeks of carefully managing him with small meals, additional tubing when needed, and lots of close monitoring.

Thankfully, our boy pulled through. ❤️

Once Rip reached a healthy weight and was feeling like himself again, we began his evaluation — first on the ground and eventually under saddle. And somewhere along the way, this boy completely stole the hearts of everyone at SSRR. He was one of those horses who was incredibly hard to let go.

But rescue means loving them enough to let them move on when the right home comes along.

One of our amazing supporters, Julie, stepped up and adopted Rip under contract, and today he is absolutely living his best life. He is very, VERY spoiled, deeply loved, and exactly where he is supposed to be. 🥹❤️

Thank you, Julie and family, for choosing adoption and for loving this special boy just as much as we do.

These are the updates that remind us why we do what we do. From an owner surrender needing a fresh start, through rehabilitation and some scary days, to a safe and loving forever home.

This is rescue. This is our mission. And this is Rip’s happily ever after. 🐴☀️❤️
