🐴❤️ HAPPY ADOPTION DAY, ROMAN! ❤️🐴

Today is a bittersweet but beautiful day at Stricker Sunshine Rescue Ranch. Our sweet Roman has officially been adopted! 🏡❤️

Roman is going to a 10-STAR HOME with a wonderful family who became dear friends of ours through the rescue. A family with so much love, beautiful land, horse friends to keep him company, and all the care and attention this special boy could ever need. We truly couldn’t ask for a better home for him!

And Roman? Well, not much seems to faze that boy! 😂 He walked right into his new life, put his head down, started grazing, and was his usual sweet, well-behaved self. Like he’d been there forever! ❤️

I won’t lie, I am going to miss this boy dearly. Every horse that comes through our gates takes a little piece of my heart with them. But when you love them this much, you have to want more for them. More love, more individual attention, more time, horse friends, and a family to call their very own.

As much as we love every horse here, there are only so many hours in a day. And sometimes loving them means letting them go so they can have everything they deserve.

To Roman’s new family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Not only for giving Roman such an incredible home, but for the friendship we’ve built along the way. Knowing he is with people we know, love, and trust makes saying goodbye a little easier.

We love you, sweet Roman. ❤️ You will always be part of our Sunshine family. Go enjoy those green pastures, your new horse friends, all that extra attention, and your beautiful new life. You deserve every bit of it!

❤️🐴 GRACIE & MAGGIE MAE UPDATE! 🐴❤️

Oh, how my heart needed this today! 🥹❤️

This wonderful family adopted our sweet Maggie Mae last year, and recently they opened their hearts and home to another one of our girls, Gracie!

Just look at this! A brother and sister out trail riding together on TWO of our rescue girls! 🐴❤️🐴

There is something so incredibly special about seeing horses that were once in our care out living their best lives, loved, happy, and making memories with their families.

THIS. This right here is why we do what we do! ❤️

Rescue isn’t always easy. There are hard days, heartbreaking moments, endless expenses, and times when you wonder how you’re going to keep going. And then you receive an update like this, and suddenly you’re reminded why every bit of it is worth it.

To this amazing family, thank you for opening your hearts to not just one, but TWO of our girls. Thank you for loving them, giving them such a wonderful life, and continuing to share these beautiful moments with us.

And to our volunteers, supporters, donors, and everyone who has been part of their journeys — THANK YOU! You each play a part in making happy endings like this possible.

Good Evening. I wanted to provide an update. I apologize for the lack of post lately and the vet fundraisers this week. It has been a week. I am hoping and praying next week will be better.

We have had a few vet emergencies this week and my daughter has not been feeling well.
As some of you may know, Sunny had a huge laceration Monday and received staples and stitches. I personally have never seen a laceration that size and bad so it was a very hard situation. Once stitched up, Sunny was on stall rest and getting hand walks at least 3 times a day. Well yesterday morning, I checked on him and the stitches and staples did not hold. It was wide open :-( We called the vet right away and sent pictures. The vet said that all we can do it rinse it and spray it. He will heal however it is going to be a longer recovery. We just feel awful for this boy. I would like to bubble wrap him.
Taxi had colic symptoms in the beginning of the week however with our normal protocol, he seemed to be fine until yesterday morning. The vet came out and tubbed him. He seemed to be getting better until this evening, we are keeping a close eye. Please see the below for the vet fundraiser.
During all of this, I have been at the ER with my daughter 2 times this week. She had really weird symptoms. She will be ok however it has been scary with her as well. Feel very torn in every way.

🚨🐴 VET BILL FUNDRAISER – $415 NEEDED FOR TAXI 🐴❤️

Our sweet Taxi could use some prayers and support! ❤️

Yesterday morning, Taxi began showing signs of colic. We immediately started our normal colic protocol, but unfortunately, he continued showing signs of discomfort. We called our veterinarian, who came out, performed a thorough examination, and tubed him.

Thankfully, Taxi seemed to be feeling much better this morning. However, this evening, he began showing symptoms again, and our veterinarian is currently on standby. We are watching him very closely and hoping we can get him through this without another emergency visit.

❤️ We are fundraising $415 to cover yesterday’s veterinary bill.

We also want to briefly explain Taxi’s situation, since some may wonder why the rescue is covering his care.

Taxi came to our rescue through a boarding arrangement, but his ownership situation is still being worked out. His previous owner is no longer involved in his care, and we have been unable to complete the paperwork needed to formally transfer ownership.

We are working with an attorney to follow the appropriate legal process. Until that process is complete, the rescue does not legally own Taxi. However, we are committed to making sure he continues to receive the food, care, and veterinary attention he needs.

Taxi is not responsible for the circumstances surrounding his situation. His health and well-being are our priority, and we will continue to be there for him while the legal details are resolved.

We are sharing this to be transparent with our supporters. This is a complicated situation, but Taxi’s needs remain simple: care, comfort, and someone willing to show up for him.

At the end of the day, Taxi’s health and well-being come first. ❤️

Our rescue is already stretched thin, and unexpected veterinary expenses like this are difficult. If you can help us raise the $415 for Taxi’s care, we would be incredibly grateful.

❤️🐴 A Little Sunny Update! ☀️

Our sweet Sunny boy is doing well! ❤️

Now, is he a fan of stall rest? ABSOLUTELY NOT! 😂 But we are doing our best to keep him comfortable, entertained, and happy while he heals.

Between his stall toys, hand walks, grooming sessions, lots of extra attention, and even some music, we are making the best of his downtime! 🎶🐴

We want to sincerely thank everyone who has reached out, donated, shared our posts, and sent love and prayers Sunny’s way. Your kindness and support mean more than you know! ❤️

And a very special thank you to our wonderful Tammy! ❤️ Not only for always being here to help care for the horses and tackle the never-ending chores, but for making sure each horse gets that little bit of extra love and attention they deserve.

Most importantly, thank you for always being a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, and someone we can count on when the days get overwhelming. ❤️🐴 $485 NEEDED TO COVER SUNNY’S EMERGENCY VET BILL 🐴❤️
Update: Raised the FULL amount!!! Thank you to our awesome community in helping Sunny 🌞 ❤️

Well… Sunny decided to give us all a heart attack this week. 🤦‍♀️

Apparently, our sweet boy forgot he came equipped with brakes, ran through the fence and impaled himself on the top board.

The before picture shows what we were dealing with — a massive, deep laceration across his chest. Seeing it in person was absolutely terrifying.

Thankfully, Sunny is going to be okay. 🙏❤️

We cannot say enough about Dr. Chelsea with Blue Skies Equine. She came out and did an absolutely incredible job putting our boy back together. Just look at that after picture! The repair is amazing.

We are so thankful not only for the wonderful care she gave Sunny, but also for her patience and kindness while dealing with a very scared horse mom who probably needed almost as much reassurance as Sunny did. 😂❤️ Thank you, Dr. Chelsea!

Sunny now has at least two weeks of stall rest ahead of him, along with antibiotics, wound care and lots of monitoring while everything heals. If anyone has any ideas on horse stall toys or how to keep this boy busy, please let us know. He has 24/7 mixed Tifton, Orchard and Alfalfa as well as breakfast lunch and dinner.

We need to raise $485 to cover his emergency vet bill. If just 49 people donated $10, we would have almost the entire bill covered! Whether it’s $5, $10, $20 or more, every single donation makes a difference.

✨ This boy is SHINING! ✨

Look at Sunny and Raeann this morning! 🐴💛

Sunny recently returned home from training, and we are so excited to continue working with him and learning more about this sweet boy. He is still green, but he is willing, easygoing, and continues to impress us.

Raeann hopped on him this morning, and we couldn’t be happier with what we saw. ❤️ He has come such a long way, and watching him continue to grow, learn, and gain confidence makes us so proud.

A huge thank you to Cat Zimmerman with CZ Mustangs for putting such a nice start on Sunny, and to Raeann for continuing his evaluation here at the rescue.

And most importantly, thank you to every single person who has supported Sunny’s journey. 💛 Whether you donated toward his care and training, shared his posts, volunteered your time, or simply cheered him on from afar—you helped make this possible.

It truly takes a village to give these horses the second chance they deserve, and we couldn’t do what we do without all of you. 🥹❤️

☀️ Sunny is back at the rescue! ☀️

Our sweet Sunny has officially returned from training, and we are so excited to have him home! ❤️

A huge thank you to Cat Zimmerman with CZ Mustangs for putting such a nice start on this boy and giving him a great foundation to continue building on.

Sunny is still green and has plenty more to learn, but he has shown himself to be very willing, easygoing, and eager to please. We’ll be spending some time evaluating him further here at the rescue and getting to know what type of home and rider will be the best fit for him.

According to Cat, Sunny could make an excellent trail horse for someone who prefers a little less “go” and a more laid-back ride. 🐴🌿

We have scheduled an appointment with Kelsey Griffing for a session of body work for this boy.

We’re so proud of how far this sweet boy has come and excited to see what the next chapter holds for him.

❤️🐴 HAPPY TRAILS, GRACIE — YOU FOUND YOUR FOREVER HOME! 🐴❤️

This one is definitely bittersweet for us.

Our beautiful Gracie has officially been adopted — and she is going to a 10-star home with a previous SSRR adopting family! This is the second horse they have adopted from us, which makes this goodbye just a little easier on our hearts.

Gracie’s time with us was much shorter than most horses who come through our rescue, and there is a very good reason for that.

Gracie did not come to us neglected or needing rehabilitation. She came to us healthy, loved and very well cared for. Her previous family loved her tremendously, but after her pasture mate passed away, they made the incredibly difficult decision to surrender her. They trusted us to evaluate her, refresh her training, and most importantly, find the right family for her.

And we took that responsibility seriously. ❤️

Although Gracie had not been ridden in a few years, we spent time evaluating her on the ground and under saddle. She then received 30 days of refresher training so we could make sure we truly knew the horse we were placing and could find the right match for her.

A huge THANK YOU to Raeann for the amazing job she did working with Gracie. From groundwork and desensitizing to getting her confidently back under saddle and out riding again — you did an incredible job preparing this girl for her next chapter. ❤️

And then there was a family quietly watching Gracie’s journey the entire time…

They saw her on our page when she first arrived and immediately fell in love with her. They followed her progress, watched her updates, and waited.

We already know and love this family because they have adopted from us before. They are wonderful about keeping us updated, their family rides almost every weekend, they have a barn at their home as well as a neighborhood barn, and Gracie is going to be absolutely adored by a 13-year-old girl and her entire family.

Sometimes rescue means months or even years of rehabilitation.

And sometimes rescue means being trusted with a horse who was already deeply loved, making sure she is safe and ready, and finding the family who is meant to love her next. ❤️

We are going to miss this sweet girl tremendously. She may not have been with us long, but it certainly didn’t take long for her to steal our hearts.

Thank you to Gracie’s previous family for loving her enough to make a difficult decision and for trusting us with someone so precious to you.

Thank you to Raeann for all of the time, patience and work you put into her.

Thank you to our volunteers who cared for her every single day and helped make her time with us so special.
