π Saying Goodbye to Always Smile π
As we recognize today as World Mental Health Awareness Day, we find it serendipitous that today is also the day we share saying 'Goodbye' to Always Smile.
When our daughter and sister Bailey passed away on August 7, 2019, at just 15 years old, our lives were turned upside down. In the days that followed, we searched for a way to keep her spirit alive. We needed a way to support our family and friends, find purpose, and to grieve out loud. Thatβs how the Always Smile Movement was born. It started with a simple idea: spread kindness, create connections, and help young people know they belong.
Over the past 6 years, that idea grew into something far greater than we ever imagined:
π Nearly $110,000 donated to youth mental health, school programs, scholarships, and more
π Conversations started about belonging and mental health
π A community of people who wore yellow, volunteered, donated, and shared Baileyβs light
As time has passed, continuing in the same way no longer feels right. Itβs time to close this chapter with full hearts and deep gratitude.
β¨ Our remaining funds have been entrusted to the St. Croix Valley Community Foundation, to be gifted annually in Baileyβs name to Hudsonβs S.A.F.E. Senior All-Night Party, keeping her name and spirit present for generations to come.
To everyone who believed, gave, smiled, or simply carried a piece of Baileyβs light; we say THANK YOU.
Always Smile was never just ours. It was yours, too.
With love and so much gratitude,
