Dear Tenants,

As summer temperatures rise, we want to share some important information regarding your apartment's air conditioning system to help you stay comfortable, prevent system breakdowns and reduce maintenance requests:

The 20-Degree Rule: Air conditioning systems are designed to cool indoor air by a maximum of 20 degrees Fahrenheit lower than the outside temperature.
If it is 95°F outside, your AC will realistically only cool your home down to about 75°F. Setting your thermostat lower than a 20-degree difference will not cool the apartment any faster. Lowering the thermostat too much causes the system to run continuously, which freezes the cooling coils and breaks the unit.

Tips to Stay Cool:
*Close Blinds: Keep curtains and blinds closed during the day to block direct sunlight.
*Use Ceiling Fans: Run fans counter-clockwise to create a cooling wind-chill effect.
*Limit Heat Production: Avoid using the oven, stove, or dryer during the hottest parts of the day.
*Keep Filters Clean: remember to change out your air filter once a month
*Take a walk outside. When you return home, the air will feel much cooler than it did when you left.

Best regards,
The Pines Mngr
