Drug Alert - Cyclorphine



Agencies across the country are tracking an emerging drug that has been blamed in overdose deaths and found in parts of Ohio – cychlorphine. Though the drug has not yet been reported in Montgomery County, we recognize how quickly this can change and urge residents to stay vigilant. Cyclorphine is 10x stronger than fentanyl and does not show up on fentanyl test strips. While Naloxone does work on cyclorphine, typically multiple doses are needed to be effective.

Montgomery County ADAMHS is warning residents to be extremely cautious with any drug that is not prescribed to you.

Be on the lookout for signs of an overdose:
-Being unresponsive or difficult to wake up
-Slow, shallow, or stopped breathing
-Blue, gray or pale lips or skin
-Choking, gurgling, or unusual breathing sounds

What you can do:
-Carry multiple doses of Naloxone and be prepared with how to use it
-Never use drugs alone
-Utilize needle exchange programs to ensure needles are clean and safe

If you think someone has overdosed:
-Call 911 immediately
-Use Naloxone if available
-Lay the person on their side with their head pointed down to avoid swallowing vomit
-Stay with that person until help arrives

The Foodbank will host a Pop-Up Mass Food Distribution for Montgomery County and surrounding area residents this Thursday, September 24, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the University of Dayton Arena / Welcome Stadium (1601 S Edwin C Moses Blvd, Dayton, OH 45417).

All residents are welcome to attend. This is a drive-thru-style event, so please leave plenty of room in your car for the food to be placed.

Five Rivers Health Centers will have a mobile health clinic onsite offering free flu vaccines, blood pressure screenings, A1C tests, and help establishing primary care. Walk-ins are welcome; no appointments necessary.

SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center will also be there distributing cat and dog food.
