Today AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 464 pays tribute to all women veterans with a display highlighting their service to our country.

Before there was a country—she was there. She served when she wasn’t allowed to. She stepped forward when others said no. She carried the mission, broke barriers, and built a legacy that continues to shape our Nation today.

This Women Veterans Recognition Day also commemorates the 78th anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act—the moment women earned a permanent place in the U.S. military. But her story didn’t begin there—and it doesn’t end there.

Each generation has stood on the shoulders of those who came before—pushing further, reaching higher. Because of them, the next generation stands taller, prouder, and more inspired to serve.

The date is not recognized nationally, but is recognized by a number of states including Ohio, either through legislation or proclamation.
