Over the past thirty-six years Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV) has served more than 10,000 young men and women in their spiritual, physical, leadership and educational growth. RBTV offers 3 distinct programs, the Purpose and Leadership Journey (PLJ), the STEM Journey, and our Red Sox Children's Retreats. The Purpose & Leadership and STEM Journeys guide, support and mentor villagers in some of l

ife’s most essential areas including: education, social skills, morals, values, leadership and fitness. For the PLJ the most intense part of this mentorship occurs during the summer when the villagers attend our five-week summer session in Hubbardston, Massachusetts. For the STEM Journey, participants are given a new topic/challenge every year, they learn about it every month through Saturday experiences with different partnering organizations and ultimately engineer a real world solution for assigned topics. The Red Sox Children's Retreats allow the Village to expose children to the values of Love, Peace, Patience and Humility in a condensed weekend format. They challenge children to open their minds to new ways of thinking that allow them to make winning decisions in life.

The young people that we get to mentor every year never cease to amaze.

Fope Ayo is the latest example: this spring, she was selected as the Massachusetts Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year!

Her tenacity on the court (an average of 22 points and 17 rebounds per game) is second only to her focus in the classroom (an A average), and earned her a scholarship to play at the University of Michigan this fall!

Over the years, we've watched her shine as a leader at the Village, in student government, at the Unitas Leadership Academy, and as the founder of Sweet Desserts, Fope's initiative that bakes birthday cakes for incarcerated juveniles.

Congratulations Fope, on an incredible high school career. We can't wait to see what lies ahead!

Spreading love, peace, patience, and humility at the Village and beyond.

In April, we had two groups of Villagers on service learning projects in Panama and the Dominican Republic.

"This year in Panama, I witnessed students going to extreme lengths, sometimes walking hours each way just for the chance to obtain an education which made me deeply value my own opportunities," said Huddle Leader Olivia Peralta. "This experience will always stay with me as a constant reminder of how much the community appreciated the fact that we were there to serve and support their futures."

We're so proud of their hard work, and the lives they've impacted with their time and effort.

Our goal is to mentor young people who can grow to be mentors themselves. We believe providing opportunities to connect with the leaders of today helps them to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Last week, we were blessed to be able to host Julie Kim, CEO-Elect of Takeda Pharmaceuticals, for one of our Legacy of Love events, a night where we give Villagers a chance to engage with respected leaders.

It was a thought-provoking evening of discussion, and Julie's perspectives on life, work, and business sparked a curiosity that was palpable among our Villagers.

A huge thank you to Suffolk for hosting and to Julie for helping make this event such a success.

Our service learning groups in Panama and the Dominican Republic have been busy this week—

In Panama, our group has been mixing concrete and painting at a rural school in the community of Flor de Anís. In their downtime, Villagers have had the chance to have some fun with the students at the school, and reflect on this experience so far!

Our group in the Dominican Republic started at the worksite on Monday, building a home for a local family in the city of San Juan de la Maguana.

We're proud of the life-changing work that our young people are embarking on this week, and the chance to learn through service to others. We can't wait to hear more about their experiences in Latin America.

Two groups from the Ron Burton Training Village are out in the world living our values of love, peace, patience, and humility this week in Panama and the Dominican Republic.

In Panama, we're partnering with School the World in the rural community of Flor de Anis — where we previously helped open a school in February of 2020 — for service work and teaching groups.

In the Dominican Republic, we're working with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester to build a home for a local family near San Juan de la Maguana, in the western region of the country.

These experiences present an invaluable experience for our young people: the chance to work hard, bond with one another, and make a tangible impact on the lives of the people we're serving. We can't wait to share more from their adventures.

When our Villagers walk into a room, they walk in ready.

This year's Dress for Success program provided 9 young men with professional attire, coaching, and the confidence to show up as the leaders they're becoming.

Training the whole person means preparing for every opportunity — inside and out.

Thank you to Milton Store for Men our partners who made this possible.

“We have not seen an organization that more successfully changes people’s lives,” -Paul Edgerley

Through our generous benefactors and their time and mentorship, we’re able to continue to help young people fulfill their dreams through hard work.

Our annual Ron Burton Humanitarian Awards Dinner was a celebration of that support, and a chance to honor two vital members of the RBTV community: Sandy & Paul Edgerley.

Their mentorship, leadership, and commitment to our values of love, peace, patience, and humility, have helped countless young people fulfill their dreams and will continue to have a lasting impact for years to come.

To our boards, our event co-chairs, our speakers, and everyone in between, thank for helping this fantastic event take shape. It truly takes a village — thank you for supporting ours.

None of this happens without you.

As we prepare for this week’s Ron Burton Humanitarian Award Dinner, we want to recognize the co-chairs, Leadership Circle sponsors, and partners who make this evening — and our mission — possible.

Your generosity fuels the programs, mentorship, and training that shape the next generation of leaders.

Thank you for believing in what we build, together.

This week, we come together to celebrate the people and partnerships that make RBTV possible — and to honor two extraordinary champions of our mission, Sandy and Paul Edgerley.

The Ron Burton Humanitarian Award Dinner is more than an evening — it's a reflection of what this community builds together, every single day.
