Over the past thirty-six years Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV) has served more than 10,000 young men and women in their spiritual, physical, leadership and educational growth. RBTV offers 3 distinct programs, the Purpose and Leadership Journey (PLJ), the STEM Journey, and our Red Sox Children's Retreats. The Purpose & Leadership and STEM Journeys guide, support and mentor villagers in some of l

ife’s most essential areas including: education, social skills, morals, values, leadership and fitness. For the PLJ the most intense part of this mentorship occurs during the summer when the villagers attend our five-week summer session in Hubbardston, Massachusetts. For the STEM Journey, participants are given a new topic/challenge every year, they learn about it every month through Saturday experiences with different partnering organizations and ultimately engineer a real world solution for assigned topics. The Red Sox Children's Retreats allow the Village to expose children to the values of Love, Peace, Patience and Humility in a condensed weekend format. They challenge children to open their minds to new ways of thinking that allow them to make winning decisions in life.

Another inspiring summer of growth, discipline and purpose in the books.

We had a fantastic time hosting this year’s Girls Cohort, watching them grow in mind, body, spirit, and leadership. From the classroom to the gym, these young people came ready to learn and evolve. It was an honor to teach them and learn from them in return.

Thank you to the parents, staff, and volunteers who helped make this summer a resounding success. It takes a village to instill our values of love, peace, patience and humility every day.

Friends and family of RBTV, we are deeply saddened to share that Mama Smith passed away early this morning. We ask that our entire RBTV community keep her family in your prayers.

Mama Smith meant the world to so many of us. Whether through a warm hug, a bright smile, or comforting us when we were homesick, she truly brought the “love” in RBTV’s core values to life.

We will continue to honor Mama Smith in the days ahead.

Reflecting on a day that’s more than just an incredible 24 hours.

On July 16th, we welcomed 58 friends & volunteers from Reebok to honor the decades-long partnership between Reebok & RBTV. Together, Villagers and volunteers held professional development sessions, played games, and bonded over a great lunch from Burtons Grill.

Partners like Reebok put into perspective the lasting relationships that RBTV creates, whether it’s a new friend made over lunch, an internship that opens new doors, or a longstanding corporate partnership — we’re blessed to be a part of it all.

Another week hosting our Girls Cohort means another week of growth, opportunity, and development for their next chapter.

From the Opening Day celebrations, to welcoming our 22 Club visitors to the Village, as well as lessons in science from Terry the Science Guy and the Harvard Medical Science team, this group experienced a jam-packed week designed to feed their minds, bodies, and spirits.

They’re heading somewhere great. And thanks to our team, partners, and educators, we’re helping get them there.

As this group departs campus, we have so much to celebrate. From morning runs, to reflection time, special events and visits from leaders & visionaries, these boys showed up with love, patience, peace and humility every single day. We are incredibly proud as we reflect on the growth that this journey has inspired in each and every Villager.

An incredible day celebrating the dedication of Edgerley Hall. 🎉

On Tuesday, we gathered Villagers, donors & supporters of RBTV to celebrate the unveiling of Edgerley Hall at the Village, and the incredible milestones, future projects, and the people who help make it all happen:

🎗Ribbon Cutting & Dedication: We officially dedicated Sandy & Paul Edgerley Hall with a ribbon-cutting ceremony honoring their extraordinary generosity and belief in our Villagers' futures. Sandy & Paul took the stage with some of our Villagers, sharing their wisdom about leadership, resilience & core values.

📧A New Path to Bentley: The Pavone Family announced a brand-new scholarship for Villagers heading to Bentley University — with this year's inaugural recipient being Villager Aliya Simons! Congratulations, Aliya — we can't wait to see where this journey takes you, and thank you for your wonderful painting of RBTV.

🔓Unlocking Tomorrow's Greatness Campaign: We gave our community a first look at Unlocking Tomorrow's Greatness — an ambitious new campaign that will shape the next chapter of opportunity for every Villager who calls the Village home.

👷Breaking Ground on the Future: Shovels hit the dirt as we broke ground on the North Campus Complex, a new turf field, and a brand-new swimming pool. We are so excited to share more about these new spaces our Villagers will get to learn, play, and grow in for years to come.

🍽Delicious Details: A huge thank-you to Davio's, Montilios and Ben & Jerry's for generously catering a wonderful lunch & desserts that brought everyone together to celebrate in style.

Last week, our Villagers had a special presentation from Julie Kim, President & CEO of Takeda Pharmaceuticals, on leadership, pushing past your comfort zone, and how every Villager is destined for something great, no matter what their individual journey looks like.

Here’s to new journeys set in motion — it has been a busy few weeks for our Boys Cohort! From Opening Day and working alongside volunteers for Home Depot Day, to learning with Harvard Medical School, an inspirational session with CEO & Founder Milton Robinson, and getting a jump start on their 7-mile runs, it’s clear that this group of Villagers has already begun to embrace the love, patience, peace & humility that we so value here at RBTV.

We can’t wait to see how the rest of the summer unfolds. The memories made during these weeks will carry into every step these young men take from here on out.

Officially summer-ready, just in time! ☀️

We’re incredibly grateful to the Yawkey Foundation for their generous $460,000 grant to modernize the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in the Yawkey Dormitory at Ron Burton Training Village.

Completed this spring, the project is already providing a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for the 250 young people attending our residential summer programs and the 4,000+ youth, families, volunteers, and staff who utilize the Village throughout the year. The timing couldn't be better during this week's heat wave!

For more than 20 years, the Yawkey Foundation has been a committed partner in our mission. Their continued investment helps make possible residential programming, leadership development experiences, and year-round opportunities that empower young people to grow spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially.

See for yourself the generosity of the volunteers from The Home Depot in action, who helped transform the Ron Burton Training Village campus gardens, entryways, and reflection spaces this week!

Ron Burton Sr. used to always say: “If you see beautiful things, you’ll think beautiful thoughts.”

The Village is now a more beautiful place for the rest of the Villagers who come through our gates this season. We can’t say thank you enough for your hard work!
