2020 has been one for the books for sure. Our program has been blessed in the past to have opportunities to raise funds to support our program. This year however, eliminated all of our fundraising events. In October the program was blessed and overwhelmed by the kindness of others when we recieved not one but two monetary donations that exceeded our normal efforts. This unsolicited act of kindness showed us the true meaning of community support. As a result our Explorers decided immediately that it was not only fitting but necessary for us to give back to those we serve. With the help of every school in the county we provided one 3rd grade student from each District with a surprise Christmas Give Back this evening. Each child received at least one need and one want that they otherwise may not have found under the tree on Christmas morning! We love our communities and we look forward to making this a new tradition for our Explorer Program!
Merry Christmas everyone.

On October 27th and November 10th, the Explorers were visited by Joe Tracy of JT Cycles, Chris Zaba, and Gary Schacher, organizers of the Back the Blue rally on Columbus Day and a pre-election rally who graciously donated funds that were collected during the rallies to the program. In a year that has been a struggle and has limited the posts' ability to raise funds, the contributions were greatly appreciated.

Over the last month we have been meeting with the officers to recreate the program to be more centered on youth leadership. Our former Chief Explorer Jake Metzger did an amazing job of laying the foundation over his 2 years in command. Tonight, we allowed our 5 current officers to "take command" of the posts next step. In addition to some great ideas and goals, the post launched it's own Instagram page that will be managed by the officers. The group also reset the command structure. In the seasons most efficient election Nick Beevers was selected to be the Chief Explorer. Samantha Nelson will remain the posts Major, with Julie Goodrich continuing as the programs Lieutenant. Aaron Henry will be joined by Lily Buel as Sergeants. Congratulations to our Fab 5 on all their achievements!

A huge happy birthday to our Chief Explorer Jake Metzger! Today is a bitter sweet day for us as Jake "ages out" as an Explorer. Jake is an original Explorer and had lead our group from the beginning. We are sad to see him leaving the Explorer ranks, but we are excited to know he will continue to work with the group as a committee member.
Jake is also a past intern with the Sheriff's Office, and took the civil service exam earlier this fall and we hope some day he will join our patrol team as a Deputy!
Happy Birthday Jake and thank you for all you have done.

Training Tuesday will be in full long sleeved uniforms. Anyone who does not have a uniform please be at the Sheriff's Office by 5:15. Everyone else by 5:45. We will be taking a photograph with a group that will be making a donation at 6pm. We will then move to our planned training. ALL Explorers please bring your own eye protection.
