A new experimental stem cell therapy for people with MSA–P (Parkinsonian type) has been approved by regulators in the United States and China to begin clinical trials. The therapy aims to replace or repair damaged brain cells that are lost in the disease, which could potentially improve symptoms. While this treatment is still in the early testing stages (Phase 1), these trials are an important step toward developing new treatments for MSA.
Regulators in the U.S. and China have granted Xellsmart permission to start clinical testing of its experimental stem cell therapy in MSA-P.
