A new experimental stem cell therapy for people with MSA–P (Parkinsonian type) has been approved by regulators in the United States and China to begin clinical trials. The therapy aims to replace or repair damaged brain cells that are lost in the disease, which could potentially improve symptoms. While this treatment is still in the early testing stages (Phase 1), these trials are an important step toward developing new treatments for MSA.

Regulators in the U.S. and China have granted Xellsmart permission to start clinical testing of its experimental stem cell therapy in MSA-P.

This study looked at a structure in the brain called the choroid plexus, which helps produce and regulate the fluid around the brain. Researchers found that people with MSA tend to have a smaller choroid plexus, which was linked to greater brain shrinkage and reduced brain activity. Further research could help determine whether changes in this structure may serve as a biomarker for disease progression in MSA.

The choroid plexus (CP), a component of the glymphatic system, is essential in homeostasis and producing cerebrospinal fluid. Role of CP in multiple system atrophy (MSA) remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the implication of the CP in MSA. This retrospective cross-sectional study includ...

Try this:

“Place a Hand on Your Chest or Stomach

As you continue to breathe, feel the rise and fall of your body. Let your hand remind you that you have a body with needs and not just responsibilities. “ (Smith, 2026)
