This morning, Livingston Sunrise Rotary welcomed The Salvation Army of Livingston County to learn more about the important work they do in our community.

The Salvation Army provides food, emergency assistance, housing and utility support, holiday programs, and other resources to help local individuals and families in need.

A highlight of today’s presentation was their $250,000 Challenge Match! Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, every dollar donated to their Pathway to Dignity Capital Campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $250,000 — doubling the impact of every gift.

Thank you to The Salvation Army of Livingston County for sharing your mission and the difference you continue to make in our community! ❤️

Last night was the charter celebration dinner for the Livingston Golden Hearts Rotaract Club! We enjoyed dinner from The Ivy Table and then heard from some of the Golden Hearts members about the impact of this club on our community, why this club matters to them, and their plans for the future of the club. All Golden Hearts members in attendance received a certificate and pins awarded by District Governor Lee Halsted and Past District Governor Wendy Jones. Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club is honored to sponsor this Rotaract Club full of incredible individuals who have already made an impact and will continue to do so!

Last Wednesday, members of Livingston Sunrise Rotary were proud to take part in United Way's Day of Caring alongside the Golden Hearts Rotaract Club.

Our team spent the day making a difference in several meaningful ways—assembling comfort-filled sensory backpacks for neurodiverse children, packing suitcases with personal care items for foster children so they don't have to move with their belongings in garbage bags, helping with yard cleanup, and organizing the home of a local senior citizen.

It's amazing how a few hours of service can make such a meaningful impact. Thank you to United Way for organizing another incredible Day of Caring and to everyone who volunteered their time to help make our community a little stronger. 💙💛

Another great morning with the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club! ☀️
Today we had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Thomas Saba from The University of Michigan about his important research on Heterotaxy, a rare congenital condition that affects multiple organs.

We also learned about the incredible challenges that children with Heterotaxy and their families face every day, along with the inspiring work being done by Malachi’s House of Hope to provide support, resources, and hope during their journey.

Thank you, Dr. Saba, and April & CJ, for sharing your passion and the impact of your work. It’s always inspiring to learn about organizations and individuals making a real difference in the lives of others. 💙💛

We recently welcomed Brighton Chief of Police Brent Pirochta to the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club, where he shared valuable insight into the work of the Brighton City Police Department and the importance of community partnerships.

Chief Pirochta spoke about the department's commitment to professionalism, integrity, and community policing, along with programs like Shop with a Cop and Operation Chill, which help build positive relationships between officers and the community they serve.

We appreciate Chief Pirochta taking the time to update our club and for the dedication of the Brighton City Police Department to keeping our community safe while fostering trust and connection.

Thank you, Chief Pirochta, for your leadership and service!

Last week, our club welcomed Katie and Grace to share how the proceeds from our 2025–2026 Hungry Duck Race are making a real difference right here in Livingston County.

Through the Hunger Council, these funds helped print community food resource maps, provide seed funding for new initiatives, and support local food programs serving neighbors facing food insecurity.

We also learned more about Gleaners Community Food Bank, which serves five counties in southeast Michigan and partners with more than 300 food pantries and agencies. Thanks to their incredible efficiency, every $1 donated helps provide three meals to neighbors in need.

This year's Hungry Duck Race proceeds helped support:
🍎 St. Joseph Food Pantry
🍎 The Ivy Table
🍎 Edward & June Kellogg Food Pantry
🍎 Gleaners Community Food Bank
🍎 Meals on Wheels of Livingston & Western Oakland County
🍎 The Torch
🍎 Family Impact Centers
🍎 The Salvation Army of Livingston County

Thank you, Katie and Grace, for showing us the impact that happens when our community comes together. And thank you to everyone who supports the Hungry Duck Race—your participation truly helps fight hunger close to home! 💙🦆

We recently had the opportunity to celebrate Isa and her incredible exchange year at Rotary with both her Brazilian family and her American host family.

Over the past year, Isa embraced every opportunity—from cheerleading, school plays and musicals, and Winterfest Court to making lifelong friendships, keeping up with her studies, and exploring so much of Michigan and the U.S. Her adventurous spirit made this year truly unforgettable.

A special thank you to her amazing host family for opening your hearts and home, supporting her every step of the way, and making her feel like part of your family. The impact you've had on her experience is immeasurable.

We also shared a meaningful flag exchange with her dad's Rotary club, Rotary Clube Três Corações in Brazil, a reminder that Rotary friendships truly know no borders.

Safe travels home, Isa. You'll always have a Rotary family here in Michigan! 💙💛🇧🇷🇺🇸
